What profit? They made a loss of €96.4 mil for the last financial year.
precisely, while I like browha, he speaks from his ass with this "sustainable" model of his. No football team is self sustainable, milan is no exception.

they made 3 million euros net in the first half of 2021/22

that's a solid achievement
I prefer to judge on final financial statements. A Lot could have changed in the second half.

Uh, Milan will post a profit for this season (or at least near enough, much better than our -100m expected result either way).... So I don't really get what your criticism is? Losing 100m in a season with no matchday revenue isn't unreasonable.. they are profitable with CL revenue and the stadia back open...

Let's see at the end of the season, but as far as I'm aware/expecting, they will be largely self funding this year, with good growth via CL and sponsorship revenues.

They run like 60% of our wage bill, probably 60% of our amortisation bill, and however biased you are, you can't argue they arent at least competitive with us this season.

Yeah the biggest difference is the wage bill. We make more money but we spend a lot more. Our squad is targeted to win now with experienced but expensive players on the books (Sanchez, Vidal, Dzeko). Then add all the expensive payraises (Barella, Lautaro, Brozovic, Bastoni got his extension after last season) and we are in a bit of trouble because of all this.

Milan is overachieving with their current squad and obviously it's not a durable model. I assume they somewhat continue to do so ie. buy young players, then either sell them when they demand more salary or let them go for free if the "blossoming" happens right before the contract runs out. I don't see bahrainians to start sportwashing project out of nowhere but could be wrong. AFAIK the company buying the club is about pure investing ie. making money for their clients.

Exactly this. The only difference is the Milan are willing to let their key players go for free. While Inter gave good raises to keep our players.

What people have in mind when they scream suningout is a rich sugardaddy and not a profit driven investment fund.

TBH, I dont really agree - IMHO the big difference is, when given an option, they'd rather go for a younger unproven player, whereas we're spending the money on expensive people like Vidal, Dzeko, Sanchez, etc. Many of our existing players who hvae been given raises havent been given THAT much more money, its not like we're paying Kessie-request wages for anyone who is renewing - its the new signings that are the issues

We over doubled Lautaro's salary. We almost doubled Brozovic and Barella salaries. Bastoni got his salary doubled too (and over with bonuses). It's not like they are not deserved but simply points out it's hard to keep the costs in decent levels. Big salaries are leaving this summer but it's not like we save a ton. We need to pay golden handshakes to Vidal and Sanchez to leave and then replace them so it's uncertain do we save anything actually.

Sanchez still has a year left but I think Vidal expires at the end of this season no?

Agree re replacing them. But brozovoc and even lautaro (need to check?) Still make less than Vidal, Sanchez, Dzeko, etc. We've given out very generous contracts to old guys who are over the hill, if you take those 3 out alone we save like 35mil a season?

Like said, at least Sanchez needs to be bought out with that 4m€ release clause. That's 6m gross. So subtracting that from his current gross salary of 10m, we're gonna save 4m€ gross. Same has been said about Vidal, that he has an option in his deal and similar kind of buyout clause but let's see. If not, we gonna save his gross salary which is less than 10m€. Dzeko has still one year left of his deal 5m€ + bonuses so that's 9m€ gross + bonus. We can't just wipe that money out, we need to pay him if we want to get rid of him.

So it's not like we can clear 35m€ gross salaries next summer by removing these three players.

Lautaro makes 6.2m€, no growth decree so that's over 11.5m€. Brozovic 6.5m€, no growth decree so that's 12m€. Dzeko like said 9m€. Actually Lautaro and Brozovic might make more than Vidal and Sanchez because of the growth decree. Of course the difference is not as much since they had salary before the raise too but the point is how much salaries we need to pay. And it's a lot.

I think my point was not so much as an action, e.g. we need to do this to save this much money, but rather comparing us to Milan - the differences between us as clubs - to answer the question about how Milan can be financially profitable whereas we arent, despite pretty similar sporting results atm. Amortisation book + Wages is a big, big part of it.

Yeah, our squad is much more expensive. We've spent more money building it and spend more money keeping it (salaries). The hundreds of millions of debt originates from 2017 so it's Suning era when we took originally that 375m€ loan (now it's 415m€). In that sense Milan and their management have done better job in terms of the output. They are few years behind us in terms of the trajectory of course so can't expect Scudetto from them yet. Obviously they won't win Scudetto if they don't start spending more, let alone get some success in CL.

How much truth is there in a new milan takeover from some bahrein group?

I was just thinking as much as they were behind us in terms of their owner not giving shit, they will be directly in advantage when it comes to selling coz there is literally zero ego involved. Their owners only care about making a profit, whatever it may be. As i v said from the beginning, inter is zhang jr something to do in life, his relevancy in a world outside china, so I don't think he is selling that easy.

Certainly a lot more truth than the PIF rumors about Inter. It's reported from serious sources (Reuters, Financial Times, Bloomberg). Though it needs to be said these sources had also reported BC Partners were close to an Inter takeover but in the end nothing happened. It remains to be seen how close Milan are to an ownership change.

Just like in football rumors, nothing happening in the end is not an indication the rumor is not true. We were definitely in the BC Partner talks and these Bahrain talks are as real also. It will take many many weeks before anything is settled, if settled at all.

That's just BS by Gazzetta. Milan will probably be sold but the buyers won't give the club some ridiculous transfer budget. The money involved is money going from Bahrain company to Elliott, Milan just being the asset being sold and bought.
