Who would you choose to be on Inters Mount Rushmore?

There is one name automatically I put on without doubt - Zanetti.

You forgot Lukaku.
I didn't think I needed to mention the ones who carve it.
Can we get Nagatomo and Berni there, too?

Me. I have been with this team through so many banter eras that I’m the real MVP

So far it's Meazza, Altobelli and Zanetti, maybe Mazzola?

Matthaus for sure in that case. Zanetti was a part of two eras, so put Zanetti up there twice

If it was only players I watched, it would be Zanetti, Samuel, Lautaro (deserves it for the goalscoring records), Perišić. Ronaldo, Milito, Eto'o and Recoba didn't play here for enough time, Figo came to the club too late, Cambiasso the closest to the 4 IMO

I would it find it difficult to name players I never got to watch.

I thought Recoba was at Inter for a decade. Although he did spend some years on loan.

What about Bergomi and Christian Vieri?

One of each era sounds nice.
But there's more than 4 eras.

Bergomi, or Baresi, or Altobelli ahead of Matthaus I supposed if we opt for late 70s to early 90s as an era (basically 80s ++). Maybe even Bini, Ferri, Marini and Oriali. Or Bordon from keepers.
Longevity counts more I suppose.
Matthaus was immense for 3.5 years out of 4 here but, that's the issue. 4 years. The others spent half their life at the club.

Mazzola vs Facchetti makes a great discussion.

Meazza is just so iconic, we hardly ever talk about any of his teammates.

And Zanetti just is remarkable for what he achieved at the club.

Don't have one.
If the criteria are players we had a chance to watch week in week out, then my pick would be maicon, closely followed by zanetti. Only two players I was in awe when watching.

Maicon in his prime down that right side didn't run, he levitated. I distinctly remember almost every attack starting from him, sort of being a playmaker in basketball terms, although he played a rb. Dude had unbelievable technique.

Similar story with zanetti, he had less finesse, but more raw power compared to maicon. And to this day I'm yet to encounter a player with such ball control when running, it literally looked like his boots have magnets in them that attracted the ball.

Of players I actually watched play:

Zanetti
Maicon
Milito
Barella

I was close to excluding Milito, but I wanted to include a striker and refuse to give Ibrahimovic any credit.
Maicon… my second favorite inter player of ALL time

I feel like all: Meazza, Mazzola, Zanetti, Mattheus, Milito and R9 should be included.

When you think about it they all have to be with the exception being R9 simply for the way he left. But if we ignore everything and look at PURELY influence on the club and the fans then he has to be there. He’s arguably the best player we have ever had wear our shirt. Those are the six that should be up for discussion.

Basically its hard to fit all in a mount rushmore but If i had to say, it would be:

Meazza (All time top scorer, named stadium after him)

Mazzola: Basically the best player of the 60s where we won back to back UCLs. Scored in Finals too.

Zanetti: Longetivety, succesful in all eras hes been a part of. Most appearances.

Milito: The catalyst for our treble season.

Meazza
Herrera
Zanetti
Ronaldo

People can question Ronaldo all they want but he’s the greatest player to have ever worn our shirt and it’s not even remotely close so that means he had to be in

Greatest player to ever played for us, but he achieved less than a lot of other players at Inter. I don't care about influence on fans, sure I started supporting Inter because of him, but that doesn't mean he deserves to be on Inter's mount rushmore. Lautaro deserves it more than Ronaldo in that case. Meazza and Altobelli deserve it more. And Ronaldo doesn't deserve it more than Zanetti...

If it goes by talent alone, it's Adriano, Ronaldo, Ibra and Recoba. But it's not.

Ronaldo has won two Scudetti with Inter + a Uefa Cup and was injured for pretty much the rest of it. Could have also won CL in 99 if the refs didn't favor Man Utd in the QF and provided he was healthy for it.
He's just not lucky enough to have seen Juventus get stripped of their stolen goods in that case.

If we go by the history books, then surely Ronaldo has a poor record, but on the pitch, Ronaldo should have two medals with us.
