Inter's next captain?

We need a starter to be captain, however since we resigned Rano it would be counterproductive to strip him of the captaincy. In the scenario where Rano does not start I'd give it to Icardi, he's our scorer, our sure fire starter and it's time to give him the reigns.

But your point is correct and I see that we don't have at the moment captain material in our squad because those who could be are not sure starters. Ranocchia isn't, Vidic is not even considered a starter. Medel could be but probably won't be sure starter either since we're gonna get a new DM.

If Ranocchia is backed as a starter by Mancini then it will be him - if not, I think it has to be Handanovic as he is the only senior player guaranteed of a starting spot, and I feel continuity is very important for the role. He may well leave next season, but one more year should be able to determine which of the younger players could have the required leadership qualities for the future.

I'm not sure but I think Mancini shot himself in the foot this time.

I have a feeling if Ranocchia is reconfirmed then Mancini will lose the trust and the backing from the locker room for creating this situation.

From what I can remember, Mancini didn't say really that he is taking the captaincy from Ranocchia, they asked in the same question if Ranocchia was going to be benched and if that was the case if someone else was going to be the captain and basically he answered that he was going to make the decision someday, but he could have been talking only about the first lineup issue, not about who was going to be the captain.

Let Icardi play one more year without the captaincy, I still feel that we should slowly nourish his ego instead of giving him everything he wants. If he performs, causes no trouble on the pitch or off the pitch and doesn't demand higher wages again somewhere mid-season, maybe he'll be the best candidate to give the captaincy to, since he is one of the rare starters every game.

Ofc, if we strip Frog from captaincy. Still feel like we won't do that.

Agree with you. As I said my first pick would be Handanović but since we dont know for sure where his future will be and because its not best option to have GK captain my second pick (if Ranocchia lose it) would be Icardi.

Ranocchia had a pretty good 2nd half of the season, if i remember correctly. Right after Juan went to LB. This captaincy shit has snowballed into a pointless argument. If there is no better option, and there isnt, then leave it with Rano.

Ranocchia shouldn't even be starting he is one of the worst defenders i have seen in a long time. Handa would be my choice.

Handa seems to be a popular choice. Is it because he is tall and old? Because he was almost out the door a few weeks ago, has horrendous command of his area, as well as horrible ball skills. Elite penalty and shot stopper, but I dont know based on what criteria, handanovic would supplant ranocchia in a leadership role.
