Ok I can see he can hold the ball and break forward, no fear. Mazzarri needs that for his quick counter-attacks and he can pass well... but still ~20m is way too much.

Belfodil doesn't have to match Cassano or anyone else for that matter. What he has to do is forge a partnership with the other striker he will be playing with. He has to fill the role of a second striker, not be Cassano reincarnate.

age and speed has nothing to do with why we play cassano, though

we play him because he's technically brilliant and creative

I think Mazzarri will turn us into a counterattacking team and having Cassano standing in one spot attempting to pull off his moments of magic probably was never going to be on the agenda this year. Cassano is undoubtedly very talented, but he's not really suited to any system of which doesn't allow him to do fuck all running and defending. The time where we're just going to rely on Cassano to deliver genius passes while 8 other players do nothing but defend is thankfully behind us.


I'm really excited about Belfodil. It'll be really good to have someone who'll be able to do something with the copious amount of crosses we'll see this year.

His price is as same as the price Milan get Baloteli. And i havent seen much of him but he seems like he is CF same as Icardi, plus we are giving Cassano who is our most creative force and what happends with Livaja and Longo now. Maybe Longo is not ready to start with us but Livaja.

It would be funny if we sell Livaja now and after two years sell Belfodil and we then try to get Livaja for more then 10 mil. (Destro).

I just don't like the creativity issue we are making worse with getting rid of Cassano. We are low on creative players as it is, and Cassano would be useful coming off the bench at least when opposition inevitably parks the bus... Which will happen for much of the season.

Belfodil is not Cassano, I think his position is Arnautovicesque, he can play out wide he's got power and strength, he's an interesting player he's not worth what we paid but he could be worth that some day.
