Modern day international football is dumb. I would rather Italy lose every game until the end of time than see it packed full of foreigners like France, Holland, Germany and Belgium.
If you are a citizen your by definition an Italian regardless of where your ancestors originated from or where you where born. This is after all how it works.

In case you didn’t know Italians or rather the people living in modern day Italy have always been mixed in terms of culture, ethnicity and those also genetically.

There no such thing as a pure anything, take a bloody DNA test if you doubt it.

Promoting a coach that wanted to take some time out and would rather be on his vineyard was not very wise.

Spaletti may have won the Scudetto with Napoli but I do not think he is cut out to be the coach of any national team, let alone the Nazionale. I think he is better suited to the grind of club football and a long championship race rather than the high pressure stakes and cutthroat nature of an international tournament.

If you're going to make such sweeping statements then you need to make some sort of case in explaining why.

The f*ck are you talking about? The national team must be a reflection of society. The players in the Dutch national team that you talk about were simply born in the Netherlands. Not in Curacao or Aruba, but simply in the Netherlands. So what are you trying to tell me, that in your opinion players who were born in a certain country but have a different skin color than the majority of that specific country should be treated differently or something? What medieval thoughts do you have?

Even in the medieval age did they not think like that.. it’s doing them injustice. If you were born in an area you were viewed as a local and belonging to the local community, nationality wasn’t really much of a thing back then.

The whole categorisation the way you describe it is far more recent like from the 18-19th century and onwards…

Also you can say it’s a 19th century way of thinking or a 1920-1930 way of thinking you really don’t have to go further back then that and would be more accurate … unfortunately some are still stuck in the 1930s

Also as I always say chiesa is one of the most overrated players to ever wear the italy shirt absolute useless cunt except for the one magic goal he scores every other tournament.
Bottom line yesterday was embarrassing Spalletti looks lik he has no clue wtf he s doing and going of the two matches played thus far italy will go out early unless they get their shit together.

Must it though. Considering most second/third generation immigrants/welfare tourists in europe dont even consider themselves as being from the countries they were born in, but rather where their cultural origin is, im not sure it does.

There was a time when nationality had more to do with a common identity, culture, values and ethics, rather than what your passport says. Many still feels this way, regardless how much multiculturalism garbage the european union tries to pressure down our throats.

Yea and lets ignore that doing that would in most cases be a terrible career move for them.

Spalletti out. It's evident he's worthless. I know "Italy doesn't have superstars", I know Italy has a youth development/play time problem, but still as a coach his job is to organize with what he has. Spalletti has shown that he is incapable of doing that.

Your post is dumb (and pretty racist). Tell me a German or Belgian player who was not born in the country he represents!
Let's cool it with "pretty racist" stuff. Such an overused word imo. The original poster has a point. Take Thuram for example. We love Thuram of course. He's one of our guys at Inter.

We don't love maybe when says stuff like "le pen voters and le pen are anti democractic" etc etc. Look thuram, France like other countries, people can vote for whoever they want. You have to respect it, like it or not.

I think foreign born players with commentary such as this is not helpful and doesn't help everyone get behind the team. I know thuram isn't foreign born, just using him as example. I'm sure foreign born german/french players have echoed similar sentiments. Just play for the team and respect the opinions of the people you claim to play for. Idk, but the whole "racist" stuff is blown out of proportion and people are making a big deal out of nothing.

Unfortunately for you that just isn’t correct. Many of them do in fact feel that they belong to both the country they are born in as well as their parent country and there is additional a noticeable percentage that feel only attached to their birth country, but often lack the majority recognition.

In many cases the problem is caused by being treated unequally in the country they are born in, this manifests itself in numerous issues both for them on an individual level as well as society as a whole.

It’s well documented that many have a feeling of not belonging and/or not being accepted neither here or in their parents country. On top of that they also have to live with being stigmatised and categorised in a less then flattering way, dare I say that creates problems.

The majority of other none European ethnicities and cultural backgrounds have tried being stopped by the police and body searched just because of their appearance, this isn’t exactly helping. This is just one example out of many why western countries have a tremendous amount of issues because we are discriminating them and treat them unequally. Majority of the issues we face is entirely created by our own behaviour.

Also nationality is a relatively new phenomenon in a historical context.

Also do I dare mention the group with highest educational level is girls from none European background in many European countries. Boys are also increasingly getting both education and jobs… much of the gab in men has been drastically reduced in several European countries the past 10 years between them and “original ethnic group(s)”

But lets just demonise them

This conversation is going to go nowhere productive, so let's end things here and go back to discussing the Italian national team. Infractions for going off topic to any additional posts on the subject of immigration policies and ethnicities.

If you're going to make such sweeping statements then you need to make some sort of case in explaining why.
It is no secret that Spalletti wanted to take a sabbatical from football for at least season after winning the Scudetto with Napoli. However, when the Nazionale came knocking, he changed his mind and accepted the job.

If the FICG knew that he wanted to take time out and be away from the game then they should not have approached him to take the job. Doing so was ignoring the obvious red flag that he may have been burnt out and that football was not his priority at the time of leaving Napoli.

I do not think Spalletti is cut out for international football because he needs time to build his vision and consolidate a team. Coaching the Nazionale, he cannot be afforded that time. The infrequency of national team camps and the little time he gets to spend with the players counts against him. And as you can see, his shortcomings have been laid bare for the world to see.

The only reason Spalletti is the Nazionale's coach is because there was no one better, not because he is the best coach.

I'm not convinced Spalletti wanted to get away from football. I think he wanted to get away from De Laurentiis.

It is racist and it is dumb. All German, Dutch and Belgian players are born in the countries they are playing for. They are not foreign born players. But Forzanerazzurri still calls them foreigners. Hmmmm ... What could be the reason?

I really wonder what his standards are because it seems he forget players like Camoranesi and Motto who were allowed to play for Italy because one grandparent was from there ...

PS: Almost all French players were also born in France. Thuram was born in Italy because his dad played there.

I take the infraction but I can't ignore stupid stuff like that. And to be honest: You mods shouldn't either. Sometimes I can't believe what is allowed to post here.

I only reacted because it goes against every bloody scientific study I read… Combined with the fact that extreme right wing winds are blowing over Europe as we speak, with enormous negative consequences for everyone.

Football should unify us not the opposite. Unfortunately the extreme right wing are using any given opportunity and event to get people hooked on their sick agenda of ethnic cleansing

Our name might be founded on the principles of acceptance without borders and all that kind of stuff (and it's stuff I personally believe in as well), but there's plenty of stories out there - substantiated or otherwise - that suggest for decades that Inter was the club more associated with the upper class and right wing while Milan was the working class left wing club. Those lines might've blurred with time but it's said to be part of the history regardless. This is also where I'll make another reminder that our most prominent Ultras group has made antisemitic chants and defended racism against its own players in just within this decade alone.

There is so much more I want to say but @ADRossi has already dropped the hammer and even now I feel like I might be over the line, so I'm gonna have to stop myself before I risk something more serious.
