It is racist and it is dumb. All German, Dutch and Belgian players are born in the countries they are playing for. They are not foreign born players. But Forzanerazzurri still calls them foreigners. Hmmmm ... What could be the reason?

I really wonder what his standards are because it seems he forget players like Camoranesi and Motto who were allowed to play for Italy because one grandparent was from there ...

PS: Almost all French players were also born in France. Thuram was born in Italy because his dad played there.

I take the infraction but I can't ignore stupid stuff like that. And to be honest: You mods shouldn't either. Sometimes I can't believe what is allowed to post here.
The reason is that Italy is a Jus Sanguinis nation. Citizenship in Italy is determined by right of blood NOT right of birth. That means you are NOT an an Italian just because you were born here. That goes for Austrians born here too. Is that racist?

That is also why Oriundi like Motta and many many others played for Italy. You should really look up the terms Oriundi and Jus Sanguinis before you come on this forum and look like a retard.

I take the infraction to set you straight and educate you on the facts. Not politics, facts that everyone on this forum should be aware of before they go slander people and call them "racist" over something they clearly know nothing about.

That wasn’t exactly your first reply now was it, you wanted to rid the national team of none “ethnic” Italians, that was more than clear from your statement.

Also no European country have unrestricted birthright citizenship, it’s given if you fulfil certain criteria like jus sanguinis , but it varies from country to country. Birthright citizenship is in fact almost purely an Americas thing it hardly exists outside those two continents (except two African countries)

In most countries it’s restricted or not a possibility.

Also jus sanguinis apply in majority of the countries in Europe, however most are more restricted than that of Italy.

But a citizen is a citizen, once you have a citizenship your by definition Italian and those at that point ethnicity don’t matter.

I know what Ius sanguinis and Gal already said everything to it. But thanks, your post is still very enlightening.

For you a person who is born in a country, grew up in that country, has the citizenship of that country and plays for the National team of that country is a foreigner.

While it seems Motta, who grew up in Brazil, already played for the Brazilian U23 team and spent most of his career in Spain, isn't a foreigner because because he had a grandfather from Italy.

I recommend you to look up the definition of racism ...

But I still think your original post speaks for itselfs and everybody can form his own opinion:

Modern day international football is dumb. I would rather Italy lose every game until the end of time than see it packed full of foreigners like France, Holland, Germany and Belgium.

I don't get it why Spalletti doesn't use 3 man defence. He has Bastoni, he has Dimarco, he has Barella. Even Darmian and Frattesi. All from Italian title holder which plays that 3 man defence. Bastoni and Dimarco excels in that system and has great connection between each other and yet he keeps playing both out of position in different formation.

I don't remember Spalletti to be a very flexible coach, so it's no surprise he's sticking to his 4-2-3-1 despite having the players more suited to playing 3-5-2.

Because he isn’t very flexible and insists on playing a certain way he even said so in post match interviews…

He simply doesn’t take into account his material are far more suited for something else, give him the materials he needs and he thrives, give him something else and you get a performance like with Spain. Unfortunately you can’t really pick the materials when your the national coach you need to be able to adapt your tactics to what you actually have…

So the 'magical' Spalletti change is to put Darmian on. Change Scamacca with Retegui and still play Pellegrini at left in a stupid 4231

Way to go, baldie!! I fear the day Allegri or Pioli takes over the NT. Stubborn clowns

This is just pathetic. Cristante is a prettier version of Gagliardini. This is an even more toothless attack with Cambiaso in an advanced role and Dimarco unavailable.

I don't know what to say. Awful. Let's hope Croatia are so poor that it doesn't matter.

Just thinking about this more, I guess it's a 3-5-2? Darmian and Cambiaso as the wingbacks with Chiesa as a support striker.

Why can't he just bench Di Lorenzo?? Is he giving such great head, or something... And Cristante starting, lol, why not just call Gagliardini.

LB is the most uncomfortable position for Darmian. Whenever he played there at Parma he was struggling. Also Cambiaso as a right winger lol in a must win game. Allegri-esque. Or more like Spalletti-esque when he plays for the draw.

Some things never change. Grande Spallettone.

Italy has a pretty good potential road to final. Most of the heavyweights are on the other side.

But here we see Spalletti again risking it all with stupid and stubborn choices.

Did you expect anything else?

He said he isn’t going to change the way he plays…
