Mad respect for what Gasperini has done with Atalanta. If Conte leaves I don't mind him coming back to Inter, as I think the club didn't treat him fairly the first time. They brought him already aware of how his teams play, but gave no support to him and his demands. All the refusion to sign Palacio, who was one of Gasperini's request, and then they go on and sign him next season when Gasperini is no longer around!

The coaches have different approaches and when you sign a coach you either have to support him or don't bother bringing him in the first place. Not saying the club has to sign every player the coach demands, but at least you have to give them the players good enough to fit into his plan. Not signing fucking Zarate to play as WB! I too was not happy with his spell at Inter, but we should not expect every coach to come and play the style we like. Every man and his dog knew Gasperini played with 3 men defence. I don't get why you sign a coach but you don't give him the players that fit his playstyle, and you then go on and demand him to play the way you like!

You wanna hear a joke?

Lazio bought ManU's bench A. Pereira on loan WITH 27M€ option! Like they are gonna splash this amount.

Who is this Vedat Muriqi guy that Lazio spent 20M on?

He was playing in Turkey last season.

I am expecting a decline from Lazio this season. Once in a while they have a great season but then they instantly return to mediocrity. It happened after their scudetto in 2001, it happened after reaching top 4 with Pioli and I believe it's going to happen this season as well.

I certainly agree that he deserves a ton of respect for what he's done at Atalanta. People also forget he achieved 5th and 6th place finishes with Genoa too, which is obviously highly respectable. (This was back when Preziosi actually gave a shit and Genoa were a decent side, not the relegation-tier trash they are now)

Keep in mind though, his Genoa sides looked very, very different to his Atalanta sides. Gasperini was known for being pragmatic and tactically astute. His reputation for being a coach whose team plays attractive attacking football, is really quite recent and limited to his Atalanta tenure.

For the idea of getting Gasperini after Conte, let me ask you guys this question first, please be honest: are you willing to tolerate HEAVY defeats in his first months here?

And I am stressing that word, not 1-2 goal defeats, but humiliations, e.g. Getafe 4-1 then Dinamo 4-0 vs. Atalanta? If you can't do that, don't touch Gasperini, otherwise the doom cycle repeats.

Understood, but perspective please. Look at his personnel in defense. Palomino? Toloi? Djimsiti? Could you imagine if we had those guys as STARTING DEFENDERS in the CL? We whine about Godin and send him away!!

It was also their first season in CL. If I recall, dortmund's first time in CL with Klopp after they won BL was piss poor with heavy defeats and crashing out of CL at group stage.

Gasperini did inherit most of the treble winning team, and got sacked after 1-3 vs Novara, 4/5 defeats or something.
More or less the current Atalanta players were the ones get thrashed by Cagliari 0-3, 4/6 defeats at the time he began implementing his system.
You underrate Toloi/ Palomino/ Djimsiti, but can you even name the Dinamo and Getafe defenders without googling?

Gasperini uses Zeman ultra-attacking tactics. If everything don't click (yet), which is a natural thing, those beginning matches have humiliation written all over, no matter how good squad he has. If we aren't willing to give him time, like Atalanta did, well, don't repeat history.

Why are we even discussing this no way in hell Gasp would come back here. Dude takes a stab at us every time he gets a chance to...

I do agree that if given time he could be huge for a big team but it s still a gamble, as it s easier to get midtable players to buy into his system and approach rather than stars, which imho is part of the reason why it all went so bad here. Than again he is a bigger name now and might even command some respect of bigger stars.

Anyways i think it s a futile discussion as he s not gonna come back here if he has a say in it.

Gasperini is not a big name. He has never coached big name players. He isn't suited for a big club.

He has at Inter and was thrown away very early in his tenure.

Gasp cannot handle a big club with such a huge pressure as Inter. That's why he is still coaching Atalanta. The guy is perfect there. If he goes out to CL semis he is God to them. For us, it would be just another season where Inter SHOULD be. If he looses there to Dinamo 0:4, they say he had a bad day but nothing happened as they are lucky to be in CL. At Inter, he would be trashed all over the place.

Whole different ballgame.

I think the comparison of Gasperini's tenure at Inter and Gasp now is a bit unfair. He came as Mr.Nobody in a team full with stars and for him was almost imposible to impose his style with unpatient president like Moratti and spoiled fans and players.
These days, he already established himself as a capable coach who brings results but i still don't think he will be a good successor of Conte. For me he can make it in a fallen team like Milan. They have more financial power than Atalanta and easily could provide him good players for his system. He also will have the respect of the squad most probably and this will ease the transition period. Even at this case, Gasp still will need at least one season to implement his vision and to adjust the team.

Yeah why is this even being discussed? Lol

I think he'd be great at a club like Roma. Or even Milan during their rebuild years. Fiorintina would be interesting too.

Genoa - Torino postponed.

It's fucked up a little bit. You have 12 players positive on COVID and they postpone your game. You have 2, 3 players positive and you play the game weakened.

Are we the only team who has had ZERO cases so far? It's actually impressive and hopefully stays this way for full season, will be a huge advantage for us.

It's about the mentality. Some may be geniuses, but may not have what it takes at a bigger club. Ranieri could win with Leicester, but will he win where at Inter or Chelsea? Same goes for players. There are some that you know are great players, who are also very professional and would kill at multiple clubs through their career; but no big club goes for them. Of course the management and directors see these things better.
