The problem is injuries, not lack of depth.
There are several good options in almost every position. Some of the best players in the past, like Kessie and Bennacer, aren't even certain starters anymore.

But if 10 players are out at the same time then what can you do about squad depth?

Yesterday all these players were out, unfit or injured during the game:

Zlatan
Giroud
Kjaer
Calabria
Bakayoko
Krunic
Maignan - he ended up starting anyway
Florenzi - which lead to Tomori starting out of position
Messias
Pellegri

Tonali, Bennacer and Kessie are recent returnees from injuries as well.
Injuries are the consequence of poor squad depth. If you keep asking for a limited set of players to press non-stop for a short time, their muscles would crumble sooner or later.

The same shit happened with your team last year. And same for Inter in our banter era. There was a time we had to sign Rocchi or fucking John Carew to fill the slots.

Not a coincidence that the teams with real depth don’t suffer that much, like Juve in the last decade or Inter recently. We can rotate; you can’t, otherwise you suffer a huge loss in quality. Semi-pro players like Pellegri or Messias are nothing more than a kid from Primavera.

Say what you want, Milan is looking impressive as of now. Top of the table, and this is with all those injuries, and having got 2 big fixtures out of their way (with the Juve away one arguably being the toughest of the season).

Nothing we didn't see from Milan last season. Actualy they were even more impressive as their squad depth was worse. It's the Pioli effect. His teams have an impressive first round and they struggle a lot in second round. Milan also had many injuries last season and yet they had managed to be winter champions. How did they finish the season? 12 points behind champions Inter.

Pioli’s team is always like that. Run like crazy for the first matches to grind results. Until his players can’t run as much and results start to drop. Plus injuries along the way. Don’t forget how TWENTY penalties saved their season.

You guys can bash Conte’s ball all you want. But that “boring” way is the most efficient to save stamina and to win the league.

Depth or not Milan has emerged because their play is not based on individual brilliance but on team play so big up for Pioli on that.
What they lack though is players with winning mentality and that is why they failed last season.

They lost the 1st place to us and then lost the derby in a matter of two weeks and had no one to lead the team to overcome that shock ( not even Pioli himself since he lacks winning mentality too). That is not smth you grow out of no where or at least it rarely happens.

When you compare it to us , we lost on that mentality by replacing Conte with Inzaghi (even though he has won more then Pioli) but on the other side all the group of players improved in this regard by winning Serie A last season , or even Euro and South American for 3 of our starters. That puts us right on top in that regard.

If you ask me i will be always on the lookout for Allegri & Juve to start clicking.

Looks like I'll just be rooting for Udinese just to score in the second half.

I want to bet 500 euros on Rube to win against Spezia. Anyone who watched Spezia, are they good enough to take a point from this game? I think Rubentus needs a boost of confidence and this is the perfect opportunity to do that. Now obviously I dont want them to win, but I have a moment of sincerity and I really see them winning this round, Spezia's defence is not good enough (I watched the game against Cagliari and in five minutes they collapsed completely).

Great game from Napoli. Very impressive how they largely nullified Udinese and turned a tricky fixture into a regulation win. I expect them to continue this impressive top-of-the-table form by smesh Sampdoria at the Marassi followed up by two home losses against Cagliari and Spartak Moscow.

Anguissa has been impressive. I do honestly think that these Jorginho-type midfielders are being slightly overrated these days. Even a modestly-skilled player with a calm head and decent ball retention / distribution will be hailed as something exceptional it seems. But I don't deny how important they can be in the right setup. We could certainly use a similar player in the mix to backup Brozovic and rotate with the others.

I'm not convinced by Elmas though. I get that he's still young but I just don't see it. And I can't believe they didn't just shell out 10m or whatever for Emerson. A shockingly mediocre player but even that is a significant upgrade over a meme player like Mario Rui.

I can't care less about Napoli and Milan. Only hoping Rube starts to click in January-March when it's already too late for them.

We are max favorites to win scudetto now according to all online betting sites.
