I predicted this from the second he was hired and it was reinforced after Napoli and Milan surged ahead in the early part of the season:

Naturally, if we can not win the league (which looks increasingly likely with these pathetic results against big teams (3 points out of 12 compared to Milan's 11/15), then our preference is Napoli, right? No sane Inter fan wants Milan or juve to win the league if we ourselves can not. It's not like I particularly like Napoli, or Spalletti, or Roma, but these rivals are far removed enough that I do not actively hate the thought of them winning, unlike Milan and juve. I assume most of you share this sentiment.

So, naturally, what does that finished old fool Mourinho go and do? He donates 6 points to juve and Milan, and then takes points from Napoli :D and as everyone else already said, you can bet the house on his fucking abysmal Roma side somehow managing to beat or at least draw us.

@.h. what were the stats you pulled out at the start of the season regarding lost points/games projections and such. How do they look right now for Napoli, Milan and us?

I've followed our matchups, comparing last season and this season in this thread https://forzainterforums.com/index.php?threads/matchup-results-compared-to-2020-2021-season.15639/

Cumulative points is now -6 compared to last season. Only Samp draw compared to loss last season was the net positive result, others are either neutral or negative. Of course no one expects 91 point season from us so nothing to worry about yet.

I think it was something like 8D 4L is the budget. I also like Bremhe's stat which was that you can afford to fuck up 12 games a season.

Milan and Napoli have fucked up 2 games in 12, so they're both on track to be winning the league as such, we've fucked up 5 in 12, so we can only fuck up 7 more in 26 to have a chance really.

Atalanta have fucked 6, Lazio and Roma as well, Juve fucked 7 (though it should be like 10... anyway...)

Yeah that one. 8D 4L / 12 fuck ups, sounds good. So far we are 4D1L and 12 rounds gone. 50% of draws used, 25% of losses used.

Yeah looking it like that, it's touch to reach the 86 points. 4D 3L left. Good thing is we haven't handed any wins to our direct rivals as I don't consider Lazio to exactly be one. Our schedule will become much easier after Napoli match. It's Roma there and then basically just minnows all over the place.

If we manage to win Napoli, we have all the tools to have a long win streak with the confidence boost from that match. Just don't lose that match. Milan will have Fiorentina, they have Sassuolo, they have Napoli.

With my matchup comparisons, we're at 85 points (-6p from last season's 91p), that's pretty strong number for a Scudetto challenge. But doesn't allow too many slip ups anymore. Also it's possible this season Scudetto can be won with like 80-82 points.

According to Pedulla, PIF have showed an interest in Fiorentina.
I feel like they're one of the few remaining "sleeping giants" in European football. If a competent ownership group invested in them, they could become a powerhouse.

They also have some of the better youth development in Italy.

And yes. The way how they beat their opponents in last games reminds me how we won scudetto last season.
