Seems that there have been pressures from Consob, the Italian entity that vigiles on Companies that are on the stock exchange, and also from the Italian Procura, the prosecutor's office.
So, during the last board meeting they discussed harshly and finally Elkann decided to remove the whole board.
They resigned but kinda forced to.
What can happen next:
For what Consob concernes, if the financial irregularities are confirmed and proven, there can be fines and even jail (depends on how intentional were these irregularities) for the former board's members.
Consequently, another trial will start for unfair and unethical conduct from the Italian Sport Court, more or less what happened in 2006 for Calciopoli, ended with their relegation.
On the other end, their are under investigation for mafia infiltration in their supporters groups and Camorra's affiliation, since Agnelli has been found repeatdly having direct relations with their members.
Bad times for them, good times for the whole football movement in Italy.

Sorry how is this good for football in Italy?

All good that Juve are cunts but in reality this destroys Serie A, integrity, no star power, fans and less pulling power. Less money for TV, less money for clubs for already a league struggling. This is something to celebrate, its the epitome of cancer finally killing the last moment of a lifeless body.

We might as well watch the big four leagues; EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1

Cause the fraud is out in the open once again? Yes it paints a bad picture but now the lega is forced to fucken do something and maybe finally handle the problem. If handled in the right way serie a will win back a lot of credibility internationally if jube gets away once again will just be looked on as a crooked league.
Calciopoli did not destroy serie a neither will this but the leadership is in a difficult position where if they dont act they might lose their last tiny bit of credibility.
Although it s already very obvious that most would rather not punish anybody.

Imagine if back n 2006 we did the right thing and simply dismantled that fucken mafioso club that is Jube we would not have any of these troubles now.

I agree that it will be good for the league, especially long term. If jail times + relegation aren't given it will put the final nail in the coffin that holds Serie A. A league can not flourish when a club like juventus is constantly lurking in behind-the-scenes activity to benefit their gain. Remember the Suarez story? If they get away with this something else will just takes its place regardless of management. It's literally in their DNA.

Italy and Serie A have a lot going on now more than ever in the past decade (obvious problems aside). The Milanese teams are back, Lazio and Roma are improving, Napoli might win their first scudetto since the 80's and are playing good football, Atalanta have seen multiple CL runs, Fiorentina no longer flirts with the bottom of the table, Monza are a new side with a project that will see them become the new Sassuolo of the league, Palermo and Parma will be back in Serie A within a few years, etc.

I think people overestimate how this hurts the league. Of course it hurts TV rights if one of the top 3 historic clubs can't be shown, but tv rights by itself is a whole other conversation. This also won't hurt players coming to the league, it's going to hurt players going to juventus. It will hurt ticket sales (no derby d'italia, milan vs juve, napoli vs juve, etc) but that's a short-term hurdle that I think is jumpable. A more exciting league fixes this. Not to mention Serie A is seeing better attendance records than it was during juve's reign of terror a decade ago.

I'm afraid it's going to lead to a massive outflow of foreign fans, who are the ones who drive TV deals and big-named (non-Italian) sponsorships. These Juventus fans are much more likely to stop watching Serie A than they are to latch on to another team.

Will the league gain more fans long-term once Juve's tomfoolery is out of the league? I'm less optimistic. I think having a universally detested villain is actually good marketing for the league.

Fuck the league, ffuck the foreign fans, fuck everyone.

Like a give a fuck about new vanilla fans. Like if Juve stays in serie a, a kid will choose Inter because of Acerbi and not PSG or City.

Fuck all of this talk "yeah but the league, the tv deals... It will be bad". Fuck em all, and most of all fuck Juve straight up in their ass until they go to serie b.

Serie A is dying with or without criminal FC anyway. It's nicer to have a clean graveyard still.

I simply see no reasons how they can bounce back. Italian economy is not improving, it's going backwards, there's simply no room for SA to grow relatively to other leagues.

I'm willing to bet the MLS will surpass SA in popularity in 10 years time, unless SA clubs somehow attract investment from rich authoritarian states.

I have a feeling that MLS is a World Cup away from booming in US.

Exactly how I feel. Serie A is never getting its prior international status back. It will still be a footballing powerhouse but Italy is stuck in the old world. I don’t it see it modernizing at the rate of its competitors.

Juve should get everything they deserve and be given no quarter for the sake of the league’s perceived image. The league is already an economic disaster. I would rather it have some semblance of integrity.

Things that were said in 93-94
Well, look at how much the sport has grown since 94. It's never going to be one of the four biggest sports in the country, but it's made a dent.

I think they should have kept them in B and below, where they belong. They've been the literal cancer of Italian football ever since I was old enough to remember in '98 with that Ronaldo incident and I'm not just talking as an Inter fan - plenty of other teams have been fucked because of them. What universally detested villain marketing... this league doesn't need marketing, it needs justice and a surgeon. It's been through scandals and match fixing (that we know of...) in 1980 & 1986, 2006, 2011-12. This stuff now.... You find out you have cancer, you cut it out or you die.
Also, whatever Jane The Virgin said.

There are levels in having this villain. Villain who breaks laws and commit financial frauds to stay competitive is probably not something anyone wants, including the sponsors.
