no, i dont think so? I think if Inter came 5th, and won the CL, we'd still qualify, but the only way Italy gets a 5th spot is by UEFA coefficient. Im not sure what the story is there now, but I thought we were pretty far behind now
as far as i know, btw, that coming 5th and winning the CL = qualification thing changes every now and then too. I dont know what the rule is now, but doesnt matter for us.
Yeah since it's 4 spots max from the league + 1 extra for the two highest coefficients, the 6th placed side won't get to CL unless they win CL or EL.
What I'm not sure happens is if 6th takes the next CL spot if the 5th team wins. I think not, but it could be possible.
What happens though in cases where there's a team that gets qualification for a lesser competition or for the same one it gained via league, is a trickle down effect where the next league gets a favorable placement in qualification, or gets an automatic spot in CL, EL or Conference.
Then they also made this weird thing where it's conditional to the club that gets it rather than the league alone. So Greece has an automatic CL spot due to some events that led to the coefficient and qualified teams and there was some condition where Bodo/Glimt winning Europa League would have deprived the league from that spot. If it were a different champion, it wouldn't be a direct ticket apparently. Or maybe I got lost in translation somewhere, but it was pretty clear from their wording.
These are really played out in football media outlets of these 6-25 range countries as all these developments affect their qualified teams. And typically, the lower ranked the country is, the earlier this is decided, but sometimes the winner of the Conference League has or will have an effect on the lower placed ones.
For Serie A, not so much. Maybe for those who seek Conference League or Europa League entrance.
And this season, there probably won't be any impact on qualified teams from whatever happens in the 3 pending European finals. Only the Coppa Italia final could have an effect, which is business as usual.
