Aussies should be happy they're national team made it this far. Alas, it's the end of the line for the Socceroos.

Azzurri Problems.

Okay, we have passed over our delight of beating Czech, and now we should look forward. The probelm with Italy is that after one game of good play, we get praise showered on us, while after one bad game, we are surronded by criticism.

The problems I have seen so far with Azzurri's.

1) Totti's poor form. He looked much better in the 2nd half against Czech, but still is a shadow of a player, who we saw in the beggining of this year. He should stop chipping the ball that much. Yeah we know Totti, you scored a screamer against Inter, but for the love of god, Cech is probably the tallest keeper in the world, and he wasnt even off his line.

2) Camronesi's poor form. He induces pace in the game, but is giving away the ball way to easily.

3) the biggest probelm is that both Camo and totti must play, casue if they dont then we will have no connection b/t our forwards and midfield and will badly lack in pace, leading to another game like we played against US.

4) Gila is an idiot. he is taking lessons from Ruud on HOW NOT TO GET OUT OF THE BOX. I never see him in any of the move. Pippo is a much better finisher than him, and sometimes get out of the box, so I would much rather prefer Pippo over Gila.

5) Toni should also play, and we should go in with a formation of 4-3-3. Toni was good in both the opening games, eventhough he failed to score. Pettrotta should be removed from the midfield, since he is usually invisible. Against Czech we had to control and dominate their midfield, cause of all the classy players that they had there. Against Australia we have no such worries, so no way in hell, should we go with 4-4-1-1.

6)LB seems to be weak sometimes. Grosso had a much better game against Czech, but it still wasnt anything that good. I would have loved to see Oddo in that game. But now that, that hasnt happened, I want Lippi to stick with Grosso, and not introduce Oddo in the knock outs.

7) Everyone is waiting for Matrix to screw up, but I am confident he is gonna have another good game vs Aussie's. And Cannavaro has been so brilliant, hopefully Nesta is not going ot be missed that much.

8) Pass Australia and we get Switzerland or Ukraine, this could be an easy ride for us in this WC, only if we dont assume that these games are joke and that we'll qualify immediatly.

Matrix i believe, can be a star in this game. he is the perfect person to try and expose Australia's weakness in set pieces.

i hope that josh kennedy can make a real impact in this game. he is a geat player, who can phisically overpower any defender, and has played a major role in some of Australia's goals.

if italy take this game seriiously, and don't underestimate us then, they should in theory win. however the media here has hyped this game to the max, and are expecting big things

Javier Zanetti,
We know they are inclined to drive forward even with their backs are against the wall. Honestly the Roos have nothing to loose and nothing to gain here, they just come out and give it genuine shot and if the chips fall in their way so be it.

They are dangerous, and they CAN score goals, but as long as we keep a cool head I see no reason why we can't beat them..........but for some scary reason I envision this going to penalties!

Lol, when he chipped the ball, Cech was in fact ON the line, wonder what he was trying to do .

But Pippo missed two very easy chances, I have some doubts over Pippo. Gila is much more reliable when chance lies on his feet.

Grosso got out too far and failed to run back when opponent counter attacks, I think that was his witness. However, people criticized him for not getting forward to attack, so I think we shouldn't use him :(.

Javier Zanetti,
As I have said before I think Grosso did well. It how Lippi wants to play. Zambrotta and Grosso are very high up the field initially in the formation, they are just behind the half way line. Italy is playing a back four, but there isn't a tradional line. The line only takes shape after that last 1/4 is about to be pierced.

Its obvious when Grosso or Zambro lose the ball they would be in trouble, but thats what Pirlo and Gattusso are supposed to be there for.

I hope for this lineup:

------------Buffon

Oddo-Cannavaro-Materazzi-Zambrotta

-----Gattusso-Pirlo-Perrotta

-------------Totti

----------Toni-Inzaghi

Altough it won't happen, cause Lippi obviosly has some strange fondness for Gilardino.:undecide:

Anyway, key to this game is stopping Kewell and Bresciano, thus I expect Oddo and Zambrotta not to go forward as usual. If we stop them, game's ours!

Kennedy: "My world cup wish is to get game time in at least one game"

We surely can't afford to play Totti and 2 strikers against Australia, they would kick our ass in midfield. Totti needs to get his ass on the bench, Toni should play with Gila up front. Pupone can always come back against Switzerland/Ukraine.

Gila has been doing well anyway, don't see a reason why he should be dropped.

And why the hell would you want Oddo to replace Grosso, Fabio did well against the Czechs.

Buffon

Zambrotta Materazzi Cannavaro Grosso

Camoranesi Gattuso Pirlo Perrotta

Toni Gilardino

Erm... no, we don't agree. Gila works hard for the team, he works well with Toni.

Inzaghi plays only for himself, gives nothing to the team, he should only be used as a sub to close game on the counter.
