So? Was our club worth the hassle at the time? If I was in his position I would rather go somewhere else as well.

So he went to Bayern, came back and was a fucking trooper. He was working hard in defence, in attack, exercising every day
Inter legends don't ask for transfers, they fight to make things better.
The only reason he came back from bayern is because they chose not to keep him.
He has had a great last 1.5 season but that doesn't make one an Inter legend.

Basically you guys are expecting the service of Zanetti, impact of Milito, and skills of Recoba to qualify for LGI. Well let me tell you, not even Brozo would qualify for LGI in your books. So let's just scrap that category so we can stop arguing for once.

It's pointless. Perisic gave his best years to us. Of course anyone of decent quality would have wanted to leave during our banter era. Only the likes of Mudingayi and Campagnaro would want to stick around. Ivan has the decency to not take the easy path to join Juve. At the age of 33, he went to London to challenge himself. He earns every respect that he deserves. What's wrong with you people? LGI not, for once be grateful to a warrior like him. Or you only deserve average players like Nandez.

I don't get the LGI Brozovic vs Perisic comparison. It's not even a sound argument, as @Il Drago pointed out earlier I think some of you are forgetting what pre-Bayern Perisic was like. I love the guy, bought his jersey this season, and he's brought me some fun Inter memories, but he never cared about the club and arguably his teammates. He's a mercenary who got stuck at Inter because Bayern (his 3rd german club btw) didn't want him and Man U couldn't reach an agreement with us.

People had better arguments for Eriksen and Conte tbh lol

He cared enough to work hard to earn the money the club has paid him. You don't need to kiss the badge and make emotional gestures all the time to show you care about the club. What's more respectable to me is working hard on the pitch to show you're worth the money the club is paying you. Not showing off saying you love Inter and want to stay here for life blah blah but give little to nothing on the pitch.

Yes I remember pre-Bayern Perisic. He wasn't that great for us, but still was one of our better players. The club's situation on and off the pitch didn't help his situation either. Players are signed to make an impact for their clubs, not show their immortal love to the club and fans! To me Perisic wasn't the latter but was defnitely the former. We need more players like this and less actors and nonfactor free loaders.

I think player to get LGI status you need to be at Inter at least 4 seasons and have made a big impact to club and have been crucial part of the team. Most of all show some affection to club. The terms how you leave and speak about the club and fans also has big say if player should get LGI status.

Player like Zanetti, Samuel, Materazzi, Deki, Cambiasso, Recoba… no brainers… played long, great players, a face of the team, loves Inter…

Player like Ronado and Vieri should also be LGI! They had big impact the whole team identity and made/kept Inter a global brand and made Inter a bigger club. They also have openly admid that they still follow/support Inter, still after things did not go so well in the end and have special feelings to Inter and for Nerrazurri fans!

Vieri:

"It's a real shame the way things ended there," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I love Inter and I gave everything for them, killing myself every day for the Nerazzurri colours. I was the first to arrive for training and the last to leave. I never held back and sometimes I played when I could hardly stay on my feet."

Let's just say that when Adriano arrived, I didn't hear from the president so much," Vieri explained. "My relationship with Moratti had been special and strong -- extremely strong. We would call each other many times a day, even at three in the morning. He made me feel part of the family.

"I was happy, as a footballer and as a person, and I gave all the energy I had for the club. You can quite understand how incredibly disappointed I was to learn that he'd been tapping my phone and listening to my calls. Come on, that's the kind of thing the mafia does."

It led to a parting of ways which Vieri regrets to this day above all for the way it came about.

"All he had to do was be direct with me and I would not have had any problems leaving on good terms," Vieri said. "It was in the air that they wanted a revolution and after six years, maybe it was only normal that they wanted to try different players, but why couldn't we have resolved it between us? Why did he look to finish things that way?

"One day I said to him: 'President, don't worry, if I have to leave you only have to say, there aren't any problems.' And he said: 'No, no, Inter is all about me and you and I want you by my side.' So I insisted, to be absolutely sure: 'I mean it, president, if there are problems...' and he replied clearly: 'It's all good.' It was anything but good when I discovered he'd tapped my phone."

Despite not being told personally by Moratti that his contract was being terminated, and not having heard from him since, Vieri still respects the former Inter president and thanks him for giving him six glorious years with Inter.

I'd shake his hand and give him a hug," he said when asked what he would do if he met Moratti again. "I will always be grateful to him for spending so much money to sign me from Lazio and allowing me to live six wonderful years, overwhelmed almost entirely by the love of the Nerazzurri fans.

"I even think they loved me too much, but I liked being their idol. I felt the pressure, but it delighted me to see how proud they were of me. I would come onto the field to warm up and the stadium would be shaking and those are feelings that are worth more than any trophies.

I could never hate Inter -- make that clear to everybody. It's impossible because they were my best years. I did everything for that club, scoring almost a goal a game, suffering, celebrating and experiencing emotions which I'd never felt anywhere else.

They were unique emotions because they were shared with the Inter fans. I still get photos of me with Ronaldo on Twitter -- what times they were! It's one of my biggest regrets, not having been able to play more with such a phenomenon. We were the best in the business, and what expectations there were of us.

"I can remember an Inter-Verona and we arrived at the stadium an hour and a half before kick-off and there were already 85,000 fans screaming our names. It sent shivers down your spine. I am proud of one thing and that is that I really gave all of my energy for those people."

Come on… thats is someone who still cares alot about Inter and was one of the best players at his position and peaked at Inter…

Ronaldo:

Ronaldo Nazario is widely considered among the best football players of all time. The two-time Balon d’Or winner, who played for Inter between 1997-2002, won the UEFA Cup title with the Nerazzurri in 1998.

In a new interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the legendary striker has spoken about Inter’s Serie A triumph udder Antonio Conte.

“I’m an Inter fan, I maintain a special relationship with Inter and I always want them to win.” the 44-year-old said.

“The last championship was wonderful, ‘we’ interrupted Juventus’ winning streak, it will be remembered for a long time.”

——————

Inter are in my heart and they will be forever,” Ronaldo told Sky Sport Italia.

“Those were five beautiful years of my life, in a city that I learned to love, with people that always loved me.

“I have a love for Milan and for Inter that I believe it will remain forever.

“I have to say that Massimo Moratti is a strong inspiration for me, an inspiration because he taught me so much.”

The 42-year-old admits there are quite a few things he would do differently now, while discussing the moment he asked Moratti to pick between himself and former manager Hector Cuper.

Ronaldo and Cuper had a bitter falling out at Inter after the Brazilian accused the coach of forcing him to play when he was unfit and left him out altogether when he was ready.

The ex-striker previously said that his poor relationship with Cuper was the reason behind his decision to leave Inter in 2002 for Real Madrid.

“I would do a few things differently from my time at Inter, I wouldn’t put President Moratti in a difficult position to decide my future,” admits Ronaldo.

“That moment in which I asked him to sack Cuper or I would leave. Moratti decided to keep Cuper.

“So I wouldn’t do that again, I would rather try to get my point across in another way in that situation.”

Come on… this man has said so many times he still supports Inter and Nerrazurri is something special to him! I know he did not break records at Inter but he made Inter brand eaven bigger and cause of him we now have shitloads of more fans and we are a bigger team just cause he played at Inter, me being one of them!

There are few players who has had this big impact to Inter fans and massive impact the whole club brand and count Ronaldo and Vieri one of those!

Players like Perisic, Cassano, Baggio, Zlatan, Cannavaro, Eriksen, Icardi… eaven if they have played at Inter and are great players, won scudetto or supports Inter don’t get you LGI status… they are missing something…affection/connection to club or its supportes or you openly support other club or selebrate other teams to win against you, or just havent been long enought to really be Inter legend?

I would also ad new players to LGI after they have ended their careers and then evaluate their impact to the club/brand and fans?

Nominating Perisic for LGI is a kneejerk reaction after his strong last season. In order to earn LGI, IMO you are either worldclass players for some period or very successful trophywise or extremely well-behaved. Perisic had been at Inter for 6-7 seasons and he had his high-low moment. He was strong at his first 1-2 season and he was incredible in the last season. However, one should not forget his first season as LWB when he couldn't even execute basic football skill or any other season when he was average. When you combine the facts he only earned 1 Scudetto (excuse me for not considering Coppa and Supercoppa) and had rough relationship with the club. he is definitely not LGI material.

I also don't get the comparisons with Brozovic. Very different situations. Unless Brozovic joins Milan or Juve later in his career he has already earned LGI status for me. People are impressed with 2021/22 Perisic but Brozovic has been playing at that level ever since Spalletti changed his position. He has consistently been one of our best players in the last 5 years and he's so important that midfield collapses when he doesn't play. Also he never expressed desire to leave the club. On the contrary, it was the club that wanted him out many times and thankfully they didn't succeed. Even in his contract saga he always prioritized an extension with Inter and rejected approaches from PSG and Barcelona. Similar case with Handanovic. The guy had to go through the entire banter era and he never considered leaving. He has already earned LGI status for me as well. On the other hand, Perisic wanted to leave in 2017, he didn't want to return in 2020 and he eventually leaves Inter for freaking Spurs. Good luck to him, great professional but never an Inter legend in my eyes.

But like i said everyone has his own standards so all opinions are accepted. There's no right or wrong in this. And that's why it's impossible to set up fixed criteria for entrance to LGI. At the end of the day this is just a popularity poll. People shouldn't take it too seriously.

separate them into honorary mentions thread (Eriksen, Natalino Felice etc), Inter legends (Schelotto, Jonathan, Perisic etc), former players only and Inter LGI sounds good idea.

None of the current players deserve to be LGI, in my opinion. But if any of them are, it's Handa, Skriniar, Brozo and Perišić. All of them or none.

I give my vote on merit, not on contract shenanigans and who stayed at the club.

I started writing this last night but refrained from posting.

Perisic has never been one of my favourite players. In his time prior to being loaned to Bayern, I thought he was a selfish prick and when I looked at him, even though he was an Inter player, I always thought he was a cunt.

How many years later and despite the best season of his career with us, and I still think he is a cunt. And that has nothing to do with the fact that he decided to leave and go to Spurs. It is simply how I feel about the player. And for me, that well and truly says something. That is why I did not vote for him to be admitted to LGI. And quite frankly, one or two seasons of great output does not make him an automatic admission.

For me, for a player to make LGI, it is all about how much they steal your heart and how much you love them. It is also about how much they are black and blue. Perisic was just a clinical professional with no attachment to the club. A heart shape with his hands in his last game against Sampdoria does not change that.

In relation to Brozovic, he has already qualified for LGI: it is only a matter of when not if.

Except for Handa, D'ambrosio, Darmian, Frog and De Vrij, all of our players feel like cunts to be honest.

I don't disagree entirely on Vieri. But Ronaldo I do. Someone who forced a transfer out, joined Milan, celebrated his goal against us by silencing the fans and openly said he will support Milan in the derby in 2009 or 2010 has no business in LGI. I'm really not happy that he's in our HOF.

Some people care too much about what footballers think.
