The only thing, I could think of at this moment of reflection is a line from Dads Army : " Do you think it's wise..."

It will really depend on his replacement. Only time will tell. I think he still has one good year left in him but his salary is too high for our current financial situation.

Agree completely, if he would take a healthy salary cut I'd be willing to have him on a 2 year deal.

The problem is we won't have enough money to spend on a proper replacement. I'd rather slightly overpay Perisic than go and waste 15M€ on another below-average player.

I would make Biraghi the priority.

They renewed Kolarov and Ranocchia but won't renew Perisic. Perfectly sound management.
There was no renewing to be done with Perisic. Kolarov's and Ranocchia's contracts ended last summer, Perisic contract ends next summer.

Also it's about Perisic too, what does he want. If he wants to keep his salary level at 5m€, we ain't gonna renew for sure. Case in point, Kolarov halved is salary to 1.5m€ net and AFAIK Ranocchia took a paycut too to 1m€+bonus level.

If Perisic accepts lower salary and like 2-year deal, I'm sure our management is interested.

I think he will play for Milan next season. That is why he went to watch them against Venezia and sat on their bench.

Its not just about a salary reduction. Its no secret that Perisic wants to play as winger. He has sacrificed himself for the team and adapted as wingback, but that was a time when Inter were going after silverware and he was out of options. Now Inter are declining & broke and he has options next summer, why would he choose to continue here? If he has to take a pay cut, he probably would do it at a team which either is challenging for bigger things or at least somewhere he can play as a winger.

Its ok. Perisic has been a great soldier for us over the years. I wish him well, no hard feelings if he decides to leave.

He has been a great player for Inter, and I really really like his contribution at Inter so far.

However if he doesn't want to take the pay cut, would be better to let him go, as he is already 32 years old and declining as well.

After this, It would be better if he wont sign to another direct rival club in Italy due to his respect for Inter, if he has any.

He'll go where they want him and where they'll pay him enough.

Did Beppe totally give up Thuram? Maybe he's still consedering him, and it might be the reason why we aren't renewing with Perišić.

Thuram is a forward, not a wingback. Not related to Perisic.

And no one knows yet what will happen with Perisic. Except Perisic if he has decided to leave for sure.

Perisic is an AML. Thuram also plays as AML usually.
Yes but Perisic is used as a left wing back and has pretty much settled at that position, I doubt he would be replaced by Thuram who would have to settle for a totally new role compared to AML, maybe we could still go for someone like Kostic.

Yes, Perisic is AML but he can also play as wingback. He was even used as left fullback sometmes.

All that has no relation to Thuram. Thuram is more than anything, a forward. Forward or offensive winger. I doubt he has never played in a role which requires some extensive defensive responsibilities. Perisic is a unique player, very smart player who was able to take such responsibilities.

Not really. Cancelo, Cuadrado and Kostic switched from winger to wingback, or even fullback, and be excellent with it.

Cancelo, Cuadrado are flank players, wide midfielders or wingers by trade. Thuram is a forward, essentially a striker on the left. Their characteristics and the way they play is completely different. Thuram has also played half his career as an outright centre forward. How many of of Perisic, Cuadrado, Kostic or Cancelo played half their careers as a striker?

They might occupy similar zones at times but that does not translate to similar functions on the pitch.

Of the names you've mentioned, only Cuadrado has spent significant time playing "all 3 roles", as an attacking winger, wide midfielder / wing back, and outright fullback. But Cuadrado made his name at Udinese and Lecce as a RWB in a 352 before ever being known as a winger at Fiorentina. He had that experience prior. Cancelo was always an RB and was occasionally experimented with further up the pitch. Perisic, for all his defending, has never, ever played as left back. Kostic likewise. It's not like these guys were all wide forwards like Mahrez or Insigne and all seamlessly transitioned into fullbacks.
