Could we stop this. If we gave 11 mln net to Perisic, now same people which are complaining that we lose him for free, would have whining why we renew him.
Why would we have to give him twice as much as Tottenham? :p

All we had to do was give him 5.5m back in January or 6m now.
We wouldn't go over 4.5m back then or 5m now.

It's easy to write this now, and to make some suggestions, pretending that this is true. But reality is completely different. There is no guarantee that Perisic would have accepted our half million improved offer. It's only suggestion of yours, so please do not present it as a common fact.
.......
IM21,
Different figures, different sources. I've read for 180k weekly, which is around 8-9 mln yearly. If you can prove that your 6 mln net are the only accurate figure, do it. I'm agree that Gosens is great replacement, and that was the idea of my post. Let's move forward, no need to complain.

Palmeri claims Perisic would have chosen Tottenham even if we had matched their offer and he had an agreement with Tottenham since April. I don't really trust Palmeri but some members do so make of that what you will.

That is exactly what I meant. We simply do not know all details around those (or any) negotiations. Brehme just make some general conclusion on random and unconfirmed information, and label them as a fact.

We don't even have to believe Palmeri. I didn't even read that from him and I've concluded in my head that Perisic decided to leave.

Of course if we offered the contract in Jan-Feb, this latest offer, he could have probably signed with us. When the spring went on, Perisic probably grew frustrated over the situation and then it came out after Coppa Italia final. By then he probably had already decided to leave.

So in that regard, management didn't do a good job if their intention was to keep him. As they eventually offered a contract which Perisic would have most probably taken.

But it's not really a big deal IMO. We have Gosens, we are covered, even if Gosens is a bit different kind of player.

If someone told me a year ago that we will have Gosens to replace Perisic on LWB I would be fkn histeric and bat shit crazy happy about that, but fkn Perisic played so great last season for us,it was a world class football from him so now I dont really know what to expect from Gosens after that.

I blame him 0% for leaving. His career is winding down and Inter is going to use the last years of his contract trying to reach financial stability, not a fun time to play.

The way we have to do business right now is very shrewd, unfortunately.

I was 50-50 on him for a long time. But I never questioned him even when he played bad. I always thought he was class but ..... there was always a but. Last 2 seasons he absolutely fucking destroyed that left wing. Pure monster... like prime Maicon kind of monster.
No hate for the guy, hope he does well and all the best. Just hope Gosens can match what he offered us these last 2 years.

If we somehow projected Perisic wage to pay for Lukaku's one year wage (plus the cost of the loan) then by all means , this was a smart move.
As we have Gosens and at the same Dzeko is barely holding on. Maybe Beppe already sniffed the chance for Rom in April and decided its an opportunity not to miss.

There are too many signals for a big 3.

Bremer, Dybala, Lukaku.

Let Beppe cook.

Also great gesture from Cuadrado who helped Perisic pack his bags and drove him to the airport. Respect 👍

He's such a complete player. Good dribbler, good in the air, good finisher, good crosser, good defender, we'll miss him a lot next season. I doubt Gosens can be so good as Perisic.

I think Gosens will never be as agressive as Perisic, but has other qualities Perisic may not hv..

the most important thing is that Gosens is competent, doesn't really need to really excel in anything more than Perišić
