"Jürgen Klinsmann was an awesome striker and he had a killer instinct like very few" (Harry Kane about Jürgen Klinsmann)

1989–1992: Inter Milan

In spite of the heavily defensive orientated tactics of head coach Giovanni Trapattoni, Klinsmann scored 13 goals as the Nerazzurri finished third in Serie A. He became one of the most popular foreign players in Italy, mostly because he had learnt Italian and earned himself the respect of the fans with his appearance and language skills.

During the next season, Klinsmann won the UEFA Cup with Inter (2–1 on aggregate against Roma) and repeated his previous performance in the league with 14 goals; his contract was extended until 1994. A disastrous 1991–92 season caused all plans to fall through. Inter never managed to gain any momentum under coach Corrado Orrico and finished eighth in the league, with Klinsmann only scoring seven goals and the team being divided and fragmented into groups. It was clear for Klinsmann this would be his last season at the San Siro.

This might belong in La Grande Inter, but I'll let someone who was alive when he played confirm.

"That Interista Jurgen will always be in my heart. I think it's impossible to spend time at Inter and move on, to pretend it never happened. The black and blue paint themselves on you, you find them every time you return to Lake Como, when you meet old friends or teammates in Italy, when you see the San Siro stadium even just on television. I find it wonderful that people in Italy still recognize me. And that Centenary celebration of Inter in 2008, where the audience greeted us with a long applause, was a wonderful celebration. When you look back, it's true that maybe you remember a goal. I remember the one against Aston Villa at San Siro for the UEFA Cup that reopened our fate in Europe, but it's the people you carry inside."

Now, there is only one target left for El Toro.
“To win the Champions League. That’s the only thing remaining and he’ll want revenge.”

Inter have recently welcomed Mehdi Taremi and are interested in Albert Gudmundsson. Do they need a new striker?
“No, I think they are settled,” argued Klinsmann.

“You don’t need to add another striker when you have Taremi, Lautaro, Thuram and Arnautovic. He could even unsettle the dressing room.

“Everyone wants playing time, and adding another striker would make no sense. They are already strong and remain the favourite for the title.”
Simone might not agree

Klinsmann tips Inter for Champions League, Napoli for Scudetto

Inter legend Jurgen Klinsmann visited his old club at San Siro this evening and said they ‘can win the Champions League,’ but tips Napoli for the Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri host Empoli in the Serie A Week 21 fixture that can take them within three points of leaders Napoli with a game in hand.

“It is always wonderful to be here at San Siro, especially to watch Inter,” he told Inter TV after he was presented with a special edition jersey.

“The league title race is very interesting, as Napoli are doing well and other teams are also pushing hard. Serie A has always been very, very competitive, but the situation is a little unusual this time around.

“Inter have to play in every competition, including the Champions League, whereas Napoli are only in Serie A. It will be very difficult for Inter to win the Scudetto again, even if obviously it is possible. I really hope they win the Champions League.”
Welcome back!

Klinsmann has high expectations of Inter

Klinsmann wore the Inter jersey from 1989 to 1992, winning the UEFA Cup, and remains well-loved by the local fans.

“I really love Marcus Thuram, as I played with his father at Monaco for two years, then followed Marcus during his career in the Bundesliga. I was really pleased when he moved to Italy, although I didn’t expect him to adapt to Serie A so quickly.

He hadn’t done that well as a striker in Germany, but this proves Simone Inzaghi knows how to improve players, especially forwards.”
Still no mention of Correa 😏

Inter reached the Final of the Champions League two years ago, losing to Manchester City, but the legend believes they can go all the way this time.

“They have practically two full teams and you need that for rotation when the crunch months gone, from March to April. I love the way Inter have this team spirit, they all help each other out, all celebrate together, and that’s important above all if you want to win the Champions League.”
United we win

The former Germany, Bayern Munich, USMNT, Hertha BSC and South Korea national team coach is an avowed fan of Inzaghi’s style of football.

The rapport Simone has with everyone, from the club to the players, makes clear that they are all on the same page, even when things aren’t going as well.
Inzaghi to keep on beating records as a manager here

Klinsmann: Inter-Bayern ‘could have been the final’, but ‘it’s time for Inter to win’

Jürgen Klinsmann says that it is a ‘shame’ that two of his former clubs – Inter and Bayern – have been drawn against each other in the Champions League quarter-final, as he feels the two teams are both worthy of a spot in the eventual final, but insists that the Nerazzurri are ‘beautiful to watch’ and that it is ‘time’ for them to lift the trophy again.
“I’ll be rooting for beautiful football. I played for both teams, but I want to be there, I want to come to San Siro to support Inter,” Klinsmann said at the beginning of his interview.
“It’s a shame that this challenge has come so early, in the quarter-finals. It could have been the final, and in Munich as well. Imagine how beautiful that would be.”

Klinsmann: ‘It’s time for Inter to win a European cup again’

The 2025 Champions League final will be held at Bayern’s Allianz Arena, a detail which Klinsmann feels will bring an extra level of motivation for the Bavarians, but he still feels that Inter have what it takes to go all the way this year.
He explained: “Obviously Bayern wants to go all the way, at all costs, because there’s a special game, the final, at home. How often do you get the opportunity to play for the Champions League in your own stadium? But it’s time for Inter to win a European cup again.

“In my opinion, they’ve created a proper squad. It’s a squad with two teams, they’ve doubled up in every position.
Klinsmann later explained that Inter do not necessarily need to outplay Bayern, as long as they outscore them.
“Anything can happen. A small detail can decide it. A penalty, a corner, a free-kick. They have two different systems, but they have players who can always make a difference, at any time.”
Grande Jürgen
