The problem with a 3-5-2 is it eliminates any semblance of depth we have.

i read that Spalletti wants him or something on some site.

Gagliardini does the same thing with 70% less wages and 70% more games. Fuck Strootman.

I watched several times the moment where Miranda is kicking the ball upwards from happiness, after Vecino goal. That joy in his face was something special. I never seen him smiling. We will definitely need his CL experience (if he still remembers it)

I thought abt this as well:

on paper:

3-2-3-1-1

The back three eats all our DF: Miranda, De Vrij, Skrinar, making quite a few of our FBs redundant (Asamoah, D'Ambrosio, Santon, Dalbert)
The holding 2: Gagsy + a new Defensive Mid (it worked superbly when Kdog was still here)
The offensive 3: (for now) Perisic - Rafinha - Cancelo (Perisic tracks back a lot and we have been giving Cancelo the whole flank lately)
Upfront: Martinez - Icardi

The problem is that while this looks appropriate in term of maximizing individual potentials, we would suffer from:

(1) one of the back 3 injures or is not in form
(2) lacking the dynamic on the flanks
(3) And qualitatively, the attacking line is not guaranteed to be more fluid than our current set-up
(4) Decent Defensive mid is rare

I've thought about the depth problem, and Anne Marie's point is a valid one. Most of our fullbacks would be rendered useless by that choice (I mean, those who aren't useless already by a lack of talent).

I suppose you could play De Vrij/Miranda/D'Ambrosio and have Skriniar playing as a DM, as he supposedly does so well for the NT. However, I've seen no indication that Spalletti wants Skriniar playing over there, or even that he thinks of a three-man defence as a viable alternative. He stuck with our current tactics even without the right players for it, I fullybexpect him to stick with it now that the club is a position to attract quality players again.

Never seen him show too much emotion before, it was beautiful to see him celebrate the goal. Almost made me cry :proud:

Am I in the minority that wants him to have a great World Cup and get sold?

I know we need a strong bench but don’t see him being happy being rotated. The other two aren’t as good
But way way younger

We need money and he is old. Sell him for something now or let him go for free next season.

We need money and he is the least painful sale we can make

Miranda is aging like fine wine [think great italian defenders].

I would offer him a contract extension until 2020, we need squad depth. Would be stupid to sell him for peanuts.

And if we sell him well probably need to spend more on a defender who's not as good.. hiw much would we get for him anyway? And who can we buy that'll give us the same level of performance?

You’re the only one, in fact. How do you know if he is happy or not being rotated? Also how much do you expect us to get from a 34 years old defender? Fuck the money, we are a football team not a business company. I’d rather keep him for two seasons and help us reach our objectives and let him leave for free after that.

Where did you find the picture? I've seen all the one from inter.it, but would love to see any other pics from the pitch after the final whistle or during the celebrations.

We won't get much selling Miranda. However we would lose a lot.

I just hope he doesn't fall off a cliff form wise after the world cup. With no position to fight for in a World Cup squad and at his age it could certainly happen. Hopefully the CL motivation is enough.

We have to keep him next season and see what will happen until January aging wise. If he doesn’t decline too much give him year or two extension. He’s good.
