I wonder if some of the vitriol for this guy comes from that fact actually, on paper and based on what she showed at Lazio, he actually fits the mold of what we need for a 3rd/4th option really well? Much better than Arnautovic anyway.

Makes it doubly frustrating for him to be the way that he is.

The vitriol, as you put it, comes from two factors:

  • Correa was a 30m signing so expectations were high
  • While he has the skills to be an ideal fit in our system he doesn't really put the effort on the pitch. He tries to dribble everyone and once he loses the ball he just casually walks instead of pressing opponents and tracking back. His pass to Thuram against Chelsea was one of his rare good moments at Inter. He has the talent but he obviously doesn't have the mentality to succeed at a top club and this really frustrates people.

For all the hate Arnautovic gets, he has almost as many goals as Correa did in two seasons and you can see he actually gives a fuck about the club. He even got himself injured in his attempt to track back and help defence during a game. Neither should be at Inter but if i have to choose between the two i would rather see Arna on the pitch.

Curious what we do with this guy if he's still at the club in the last days of August. Do we give him a golden handshake or we keep him at the club as a 5th option?
Well in that case his contract needs to be terminated earlier. He simply does not deserve to be here with this group without putting in all the effort.

Better players like Sanchez (and Vidal?) got a golden handshake, so why not Correa?

I mean we risk him potentially winning something - what would that transmit to the other players? That we tolerate this kind of attitude?

We need that slot for someone who can contribute, someone hungry to do so.

Biasin said that there will be no contract termination for Correa. If there's no offer for him he will stay at Inter

We are optimistic (Oaktree agree to golden handshake) but also realistic (we keep him as 5th striker).

Honestly just keep him at this point. He's refusing all destinations that are actually interested in him and no one is going to give us shit. Any wage savings we would get is going to be negligible. Our only hope is for Inzaghi to reanimate him somehow and maybe, just maybe, we can justify 1/20th of the money we've spent on him. Best case scenario-- he pips Arnautovic (who is near useless at this point other than pens) and becomes 4th striker. Worst case scenario-- well that's basically already happened; it can't get much worse.

I'd still like to sell him off, just so it doesn't give Inzaghi the option of actually using him.
That’s my fucking fear. I don’t know how Simone feels about our asado chef skills on the pitch but he’s definitely familiar with him.

If he doesn’t want to go anywhere, there’s not much that can be done but please don’t utilize him in important moments. It’s just gonna lead to disappointment and frustration.

Too bad we have to cope with him and Arnautovic in the upcoming season. The latter is not as garbage as Correa, but still, both of them are useless. Hopefully both Lautaro and Thuram won't be having major injuries though.
