yeh shame that i cant see dodo playing on the right

I can't see Dodo playing at all with his injury history. I hope he turns out good, I just don't think it'll happen. In this situation having Juan Jesus as a sub that can play LB or CB would be much more useful.

He is the one youth player we truly have given the right opportunity. Even with the change of coaches has he been given plenty of faith and he has played a lot and consistently. Also for a young talent in a big club he hasn't been hyped much by media. So to see him this season has hardly been very encouraging. You can't really blame him for playing LB though, that's on Mancini. Considering he's really out of position there I would even say he has done well, even though he's obviously lacking attacking ability. At CB I feel like he can't play alongside Ranocchia. Lucio was great here but he had Samuel next to him. Both Frog and JJ has played better when alongside Vidic. When JJ and Frog play together I feel like that's one brain too few.

But as his brain seemingly has gone missing, at least he has always displayed a good heart. He has many times stated it's his dream to stay at Inter for many years to come and yesterday when he checked out the new metro to San Siro with Rano he had this to say when asked about the ride: "It was comfortable and fun. If we win, I'll take the metro home with our fans. Hopefully we can do that on Sunday night after the match against Empoli." It shows that he cares.

As things are now he doesn't look very lucrative for the starting eleven, to say the least... but as Dylan and others already commented, we shouldn't put him in the trash just yet. As a defender surely he has the best part of his career ahead of him. Just hope it can be with Inter and that he somehow gets back on track.

I agree with most of what you said, except that I think he has looked better as a LB this season than CB, which considering is a new position for him is a little encouraging, however he hasn't looked anywhere as good as when his first season with us. But keep in mind that he has played only in a 3-man defense for a long time.

Also it doesn't makes sense to sell him now, we'll get very little for him, and he is still a young, useful and versatile player, there is still a long road ahead of him and we can wait to see if he gets out of his slump. Anyways it makes no sense to sell young talented players when they are in the downside, they still have plenty of time to prove themselves and if they make it through they'll cost 3-4 times more.

He's been better as LB but that's because he's been dreadful as CB as of late (this past season I guess). That still doesn't mean that Juan as LB is a good idea and I hope come next season Mancini puts an end to that chapter.

As LB, yes, he’s been good defensively for the most parts and 10+ years ago maybe you would settle for that with a fullback. But if you think about the world’s best fullbacks now you’ll find them all being fast, able to get past one or two players and capable of delivering a good cross. They are an essential part of both starting and participating in attcking play. Ronin makes a good point with Chivu and Maicon and I guess I kinda buy it. Although as of now we don’t exactly have a Maicon in his prime on our team… What we do have though is most possession in the league and as opposing teams comfortably sit back when facing us we need every attacking force we can get… and Juan of course offers zero attacking force. He can’t make things happen even if his life depended on it. Not even if Kova’s life depended on it could he make a successful dribble or cross. 41 year old Zanetti could loosen his tie, skip a commemorative event or how about one of those English classes he has made no progress in to make a comeback against Empoli and he would without a doubt offer more going forward than JJ. The mere fact that I’ve been missing Jonathan lately should make whoever in doubt realize that Juan is far too rigid if we want to improve our play. Whenever Juan makes a forward run and gets the ball he just passes it right back to whoever provided it to him in the first place. Not only does it slow us down with possession for nothing, but it also means we only have functional attacks from one side which makes us more predictable.

There once was a time when I saw Juan as one of the biggest talents out there, not far behind Varane. I was convinced he would one day make it in the Brazilian NT. Now, I was probably one or two, or maybe a couple more than that steps ahead of myself, as many others also were, but I'm 100% sure that if this LB nonsense continue he won't have even the slightest, tiniest bit of chance to make it in the NT. The new Marcelo? Maxwell? Alves? Maicon? Forget it. As LB he can only ever be an average player. Even Dodò has a better chance if he would just stop serenading the nurses and leave the hospital where he seemingly spends most of his time as a professional footballer.

I’m not sure if we should follow Universe’s spontaneous motion and sell Shrek to Chievo or Aston Villa, but if he ever had any potential to become a good player. Good enough for Inter. A winning Inter. It would be as a CB.

With that said, maybe he can’t find back to the promising level he once showed, maybe it was all an illusion and we were all fooled by his strength and aggressiveness, his occasional nice interventions and his ridiculously small ears or whatever else he deceived us with. Maybe he was always going to be too clumsy, too naive, too short and too dumb to ever succeed as a CB at the highest level. Maybe he’s only sufficient in a back three? I’m not sure, but he truly did show potential as CB not that many years ago at all. After this season I guess we’re all left rather clueless. How on earth has he regressed so much? Did part of him die when Coutinho left? Did he sell his soul to Osvaldo? Does he struggle to think straight when Kova the cutie is on the pitch? Is he jealous of the Bro? Are Mancini's notes confusing? I don't know, but when he is LB it’s all clear. At least to me. Another player, another lowered standard, and another hand slammed on the desk when you see his name in the starting line-up.

Comedic Post of the Year
When he was asked about a possible exit a month ago:

"The first year was a novelty for everyone."

"I played well and I proved myself. Then year after year it gets more difficult to prove your worth, so I have to continue to do my utmost to create trust."

"I never read about my name on the transfer market, and I wouldn’t change Inter for anyone. I am and will be an Inter player for the next five years."

this year Juan has deluded me... As CB he played very bad and he hasn't the right skills to play as LB... i wouldn't sell him, but next season he must play much much better if he wants to stay at Inter.

With Murillo coming in along with another class CB (Benatia ?), his time may be coming to an end here.

I don't think unprofessionallism is his problem honestly. I just think he's been developed in a side with a shotty midfield leaking goals. Next to a player who probably should have had a leader next to him and not asked to be the leader. And now his confidence to play CB is in the doldrums.

Juan confirm that he will stay at Inter:

The newspapers are always talking about the market, but I will remain at Inter until 2050!

soon you will enter a time when your favourite footballers are suddenly the same age or younger than you - like me with Kovacic. This is a depressing time indeed.
