He’s neither a left winger or CF who can play as a lone forward.

He’s like a Dybala, not even comparable in terms of skill obviously, but in that he’s best suited to a 2 striker system.

He’s one of many forwards who suffered from this obsession with 433 in previous years where very few teams played with two strikers.
Exactly. Keita played centrally and in the wing at Inter in 4231. He didn't play those roles in Lazio where he made his name. He played in 2 striker system like we do now.

Btw Tuttosport rumored Keita could be bought with 7-8m€. That sounds more credible than the few mills we talked about here. He's "only" 26 so still many years left in his career.

I hope were not insane to pay any money for a player who failed in the last two loans in Serie A. Completely different matter if we get him for free with low wages for a fourth striker role. If he has one year left in his contract, he should get a golden handshake.

But did he fail at Sampdoria? Scored 7 goals in 1200mins (equals full 13 matches).
My mistake, I thought he did worse than I thought, these are good numbers. I still suspect about the reason Samp didn't take the option to buy him. In any case I still stand by my opinion, if we are so poor we shouldn't really be spending the little money that we have to take a 4th striker, it just doesn't make sense to me, we could use the money for more important roles that we need to fill. That's just my opinion.

To be fair €10m is a lot for Samp. They have very rarely signed players over that amount.

Keita needed to have had a truly excellent season for them to redeem him - which he didn’t. But if he did, we wouldn’t be looking at him as a budget option to begin with.

Sampdoria were about to sign him, then Cagliari came in and stole the deal in southern fashion.

Permanent transfer: Monaco allowed him to join Cagliari for free, but keep 25 per cent of future transfer fee.

Only three goals with Cagliari in 24? He's only 27, would he be worth bringing back instead of keeping a Caicedo on the roster?

He basically was one season wonder. One super season at Lazio but since then only glimpses of what could have been.

Horribly overrated: a one season wonder with nothing left to offer a top tier club.

I actually think he had a ton of talent and potential. He should have never went to that Monaco team. His development was stunted greatly. I even think if he would have stayed for Conte’s first season he could have been a solid option in that counter attacking system.

However the ship has sailed for him as a footballer for a top club.
