It appears that Asllani is being held responsible for the team's recent loss against Milan
He's not being held responsible.
His usage is. By Inzaghi. By the club.
What's unfair to the kid is that he's supposed to be a lot better than he is. We can't fault the kid for being the player he is. The club left a big gap there and you can argue that Inzaghi advised against getting a replacement that can do the job.
Asllani just cannot do much in our midfield. There's no role for him.
I hear complaints about Frattesi, too, but the guy can win you games even if he's not ideal for the way we want to play. We don't need to play 90+ minutes the same way anyway, hence why you need players offering a new dimension. We only need that for the defense and maybe wingbacks. Forwards need to offer more, midfielders need to be able to offer something different.
Asllani just doesn't tick any box. He always looks like an amateur corporate league player that can just hit the ball well. He should be 7th choice in midfield but we hardly got the 6th and he's sort of the only replacement for Hakan even when Barella and Zielinski are more suited to that role.
Blame the club.
You can find a lot that Asllani didn't do well in his derby cameo or other games, but this is the club's fault. They know what they're working with.
