One thing I don't get the hate on Asllani is Frattesi actually destroys our midfield and game play way more than him, and is even more entitled, but they hate Asllani more? Maybe cause Frattesi scores? I guess it is hard to argue, cause at end of the day regardless how well you play the scoreline is the result, and if it can be consistently delivered, then what can you really complain about? On the other hand having good midfield plays is the key to more control and consistent results

You answered the question yourself. He occasionally scores goals and he doesn't play in the most crucial position in our system so his limitations aren't as costly.

Frattesi is quick.
Asllani is too slow.

Frattesi has grit and fighter spirit.
Asllani looks like an amateur.


Key differences as to why they're perceived differently. In short, attitude.

If I want someone to take set pieces between the two I'd pick Asllani. But football isn't a static sport, so Frattesi >>> Asllani and it's not even funny. Hey, it rhymes!

I don't think I agree with Frattesi > Asllani at all along with some other things, but thanks for explaining your reasons.

Just being more clear, I don't see it very clear cut like a linear scaling, cause like you mentioned it is not a static sport when the measurement is straightforward like tracks and field, too many other elements can shift one better than other, very situational, and their level differences isn't like extreme, like Thuram vs Arna for example. There were games that Asllani was definitely better in comparison.

Also to be fair, Asllani does have grit too.

With Asllani you get some passes but lose the defence. With Frattesi, you get the goals but lose both.

A lot of the bias is down to their nationalities really

They don't have anything else to bring, so they go that route. The "he needs time" argument worked until a certain point. Three years in, even that's washed, although some still mention it, as if we can afford to give someone 5 or 6 years to develop like we are bologna or something, especially playing on the level we are playing now.

Asllani gathers yellow cards because he is not yet defending on par with Hakan or Mkhi or Barella. I wouldn't say he has no grit, if he wasn't so determined he would have less yellows IMO

I dont get this guy. His best trait is long passing but he kills so many counters when passes are there to be made. Very frustrating. Not sure if Inzaghi is trying to coach it out of him or what.
