We've survived two seasons with very high scoring rates with two strikers that are neither clinical nor able to create their own shot. It's rather unfair to blame this on Lautaro himself.
It's not even about the striker pairing.
That's why i said: "Toro can only work for us in a two-man pairing up front so we need to build around that" ditto Kaku but Kaku can at least lead the line, bully defenders, create space for others, etc.

Our strikers would probably have 15 each by now if we had Hakimi and Eriksen around. And people would still whine about Lautaro dribbling excessively or not making a final pass.
I doubt Toro would have 15, maybe 7-10 goals. But point is he's just not the guy to lead the line, not at this level. And we need to stop this "if Eriksen were here" nonsense, he was competent alongside Broxovic and Barella, better than Vecino and G5, second highest paid player and worst starting 11 player (coin toss between him perishit). Inter deserve better than his dainty running about, in fact we got better with Rafinha who did more in his short stint than Eriksen did in 1.5 seasons, even with Conte going out of his way to accommodate him. I wish Eriksen all the success in the world and a long and happy life but he's not worth half the adulation FIF heaps upon him on an almost daily basis. Hakan doesn't have half the talent as Eriksen but he puts the work in at least, trying to adjust his game and throwing his body about to help the team.

Giovanni Simeone was a completely average striker before this season. With age he became more clinical. If we somehow lose Lautaro, some other clubs will be enjoying his peak form while we will probably be settling for some old dust who can last only 60 minutes or so.

I love how this bullshit narrative that Eriksen doesn't put the work and lazy still exists lol

No one saying Lautoro has peaked I'm just saying he isn't good enough to lead the line. Gigi is a mid-table-level striker that's why he's on loan, Cagliari have faith in him and rightly so.

Never ever said this, Eriksen probably among those with most distance covered per game.

You talking abt Otamendi?

Anw, he apparently was subbed out due to injury problems. We will see if we can do better without his shit finishing or worse without his workrate. My bet is not on the positive side.

Yeap, apparently it was Otamendi. Someone sent me the picture and told me it was Lautaro and I didn't even flinch. They looked the same

you can only compare CR7 or Messi to the Splash brother, not Lautaro

so no Lautaro today? maybe that's a good thing

still not a good game by him, but opening up at the right time, right place and he got the goal he desperately needed

seems like he likes to score against Napoli

Last year he broke another goal drought by scoring against Napoli; back then he celebrated by making the big ears gesture against critics, this time he did it by apologizing to the fans for his recent performances. Great gesture, and hopefully that's a sign of growing maturation.

He was very good today. Like Spalletti said, he's a champion.

He has the mentality of a champion. The tireless running, always knowing where to be (thanks for Conte for this). Not a natural clinical finisher but very few players, even strikers are at the top level.

Despite that I just love this player. The apologizing gesture was like, oh man, this guy really cares about this thing he's doing.

Looked calm and composed when he received the pass, knew exactly what he was going to do and how.

I also liked the earlier turn and snap shot in the first half.

Disappointed he didn't take the penalty. We need as many players on pitch willing to take charge/responsibility of the result as possible. Leaving that to new signing Hakan who is still solidifying his place in the first team was disappointing.

To me that felt extra great that Calhanoglu took it. Inzaghi said Lautaro, Calhanoglu and Perisic are our top3 PK takers and they got to decide by themselves who takes it today. If Calhanoglu feels great at taking it, to me it shows Lautaro doesn't have a problem with that despite he "was" the 1st priority taker before. Being a striker and all, hungry for goals. The winning matters more to him.

What is the apology gesture for? If it was directed for his goal drought and recent performances, then wow… The fact he feels he is doing less is enough in my eyes to be respected.

He shouldn’t have been subbed.
