No its not. You'd have to look at xg but I don't have a stat for that throughout the group stage. But even with those stats above, for a supposed world class striker to then finish on 0 goals is a failure. Needs to step it up.
Fair enough. But I'm very wary of these advanced stats (or stats in general) as a metric because they lack context. Too often a someone on FIF will go on whoscored or whatever website, look at a players rating and whatever useless stats (intercepts per game) and use that to gauge a players quality or fit.

Maybe i'm just turned off by the level of mathematics involved but IMO stats should only be used in conjunction with actually watching the game.

25 shots, 0 goals in UCL. That is pathetic. Needs to step it up big time!
Maybe i need to review games but I can't think of a glaring miss Toro made this UCL season. Could be a shot selection problem also, taking difficult shots from difficult angles etc IMO he'd definitely be on the score sheet if he was getting the kind of service Haller and Lewadowski would be getting.

I agree with a lot of what you say with these new stats etc, however on the service arguement, we're also leading for the most accurate crosses on the champions league. Lol

He should be doing much better end of

I mean, it's just plain as day to anyone with eyes, is it not? Some people just have naturally excellent technique when striking a football. Some people have a composure and awareness when they're in a scoring situation. Lautaro does not. His shots are often rushed or scuffed and his accuracy is mediocre in the extreme. rfU also mentioned his shot selection, which I think is extremely poor. It's all in the heat-of-the-moment instinct with him.

Rummenigge, who played for Inter between 1984 and 1987, no longer holds an official post at Bayern but still holds sway in club decisions and said there is one player he would sign in a flash if he was still in a position to do so. “At this moment, if I was still a director at the club, I would sign Lautaro Martínez.
Good enough for Bayern but not good enough for Inter.I saw that story already in the past with few players...

Btw. I was never of an opinion that his finishing will be great/WC,he is not that kind of player (not every striker is Icardi in Inter jersey, clinical finisher).Still very valuable in many ways.

Toro is only disapointing us because we expect so much from him, he is still young and learning every day and he clearly cares for Inter and us, the fans. We need to show him love and give him his confidence back, we all know he has the ability to score 20 a season.

People should also note that those who score 30+ goals get their numbers from tap-ins as well, which means they are usually target men. Lautaro isn't playing in that role and if you have noticed his goals are mostly scored from more difficult positions.

There's no striker who gets just stand around in the box and wait for tap ins. Even Dzeko plays deeper than Lautoro and then some how manages to find himself at the end of a cross for a tap in. Lautoro just has to move intelligently.

we all know he has the ability to score 20 a season.
We're in an era where trophy winning strikers are scoring 30+

It's unlikely Toro will ever reach that level so we should look for a striker partner ASAP to shoulder the responsibility. IMO we should go for the Diego Costa-like Artur Cabral in the winter mercato. We can get him at 15M but that will likely double by the summer.

That penalty was hillarious. Rather give someone from Curva Nord to shoot.
