10 years of FIFFair enough he only played 221 minutes.... I d argue that being in such a tournament still adds to fatigue even if you dont play to much, thing is that lauti barely got a break the last 2/3 seasons.......
Also he did start the last two friendlies in september for Argentina.
Btw i m not saying he does not have to step up just that it s understandable to some degree.

10 years of FIFEven if he played few minutes during the midyear tournament, it still cut a substantial time for a proper rest and it also took away important preseason training. Add mental fatigure and constant worldwide travelling to the mix, you would get an exhausted player who could not play at his 100 %.
Now it seems he will be absent for the City match. Considering his fitness and the recent form, I would regret allowing him to cut short his vacation to join us. He should take his time and even be allowed to have a custom preseason schedule for him. It sounds extreme but that is how important he is for us.

Ive really given up on this guy. I thought Copa would make him better. It made him MUCH worse.
But our club just cant attract Haaland level players, so we're stuck with him. It's sad because a lethal finisher would truly make us a top European side.

He had an assist, but again I have to accentuate his horrible form. You can see it every time he runs, looks completely drained, and it's a month and a half since the season started. And ok he didn't have a proper rest, but this amount of off form is honestly unacceptable no matter the excuses.
And the reason why i m even here and criticizing him and not in some other player thread who maybe deserves it more for tonight's performance is because of how important he is for us and the way we play...

FIF Special OnesAt least he got a goal contribution today. Still doesn’t look anywhere near his best.
We should be cognizant of the fact that Man City probably lost Rodri today for an extended period of time. All these games do add up. I can’t think of anyone who played in Copa America late stages tearing it up right now, besides Luis Diaz.
Not trying to make excuses. But it kind of is what it is. A fit Lautaro can masks a lot of flaws but he isn’t the reason we lost today.

The amount of travel and the lack of a real preseason really taking a toll. Needs some serious rest and recharge.

unless he scores soon e's really gonna ruin my argument that we should have kept arnautovic over esposito - since esposito now has more Serie A goals than Lautaro does this season

Well he basically won us the league last year with 4/5 months of unplayable form. So let’s hope we can get one of those again at the some point this season.
