IMHO of all the disappointments this season, this guy is undoubtedly number 1

I think he's playing hurt in addition to Thuram.

Mate, hit a corner, not a keeper. Christ.

If this guy doesn't show up against Bayern, we should be done with his ass. Please pick anyone from this fucking list.

Makes almost 6x Retegui's wage, with half the goals. Efficient!

Tonight or second leg is ideal chance for him to step up and save this atrocious season.

Nothing saves this season for a guy earning almost 10m a year.

Not only that, he is the captain and the focal point of every attack, meaning players will more likely try to assist him than another player up front... and yet, somehow still misses sitters week after week. It has been like this forever, what other example do we have for someone having a massive visible fixable weakness and never doing anything to fix that?

If he actually cared about turning it around, he'd be training non stop on his own time, idk, like hiring a sports psychologist (mainly for choking and entering panic mode when he is finding himself in front of the goal), bringing in a finishing coach, studying tapes of strikers who don’t choke in front of goal. But nah… he won't. Not hating, just saying that you can't fix what you don't admit is broken. And he will never admit that he becomes a different player when it comes to simple chances aka sitters.

Right now, he's playing like a ~4m per year player and the worst part is that the team relies on him.

For 10m a year, we should be poping the champagne the second he even sniffs a half chance. That's the level of certainty you demand from a player on his wages. Not holding ouur breath when he's 1-on-1. A guy paid to be a killer in the box has us praying he doesn't turn to Guarin in front of the goal. If you're earning the superstar money, a tap in shouldn't feel like a 50-50 lottery.

Less than .50 goals a game is an atrocity for someone on his wages. He better bring it to end the season.

Holy smokes, imagine if Thuram hadn't hit the dang posts so often. Lautaro is not up to snuff this year and missed quite a few by finding the goalkeeper.

So he can stay now? Or will people start saying that one goal is not enough?

That was a world class goal no doubt. But he also shat his pants in 3 different occasions. And yes 1 goal is not enough.

Let's just celebrate for now. It's far from over.

If he was black would be able to stay?

I love Lautaro but I really didn’t expect such a performance at such a big game. His effort has always been appreciable but the goal was insane. And the way he set up Barella for the second goal… yes!!! Please more of those, need them even more than goals.

Captain material!
Always fights to the last second. Never gives up on any ball, no matter how hard it is. Always tries even when it doesn't work.
This is why stats in football often won't show the whole picture. His contribution is immense to this team.

He fucked up one great opportunity in the first half, but his goal was great. Otherwise his contribution was immense. Thuram was off yesterday, but Lautaro was everywhere. Pressing, keeping the ball, linking up teammates, helping in defense. Absolutely captain's performance
