Calling him the Argentinian Gabigol is insanely harsh but I've long agreed that he doesn't have any particularly elite traits at the current time. Nor does he show any elite level of potential in any area.

He's not a lethal finisher like Icardi. He's not particularly fast or particularly strong. He's quite short and temperamental on top of that. Saying he's a good dribbler would also be false. While it'd be unfair to say he's got a weak girly shot (like Joao Mario) it's plainly obvious to see that he certainly doesn't possess a rocket shot like Adriano or Guarin either.

It's the overall package that makes Lautaro. He's determined, for whatever that's worth. He's a solid finisher and a solid header of the ball. He's got a decent eye for a pass and can use a deft bit of trickery from time to time. He has a pretty good sense of how to read and play the game. He also has hunger and the right attitude (off the pitch). He seems to have his head screwed on correctly. Thankfully he was not infected with contagious retardation after spending time with Mauro. For all that, at his age, makes him a very solid prospect. For lack of a better description, he's the kind of striker that you'd give an 85 rating in PES/FIFA(2022)

The same thing can be said about Gabigol - not super fast, not super strong, not super this or that, but still somehow managed to score shit ton of goals in Brazil. Most probably here too if he was given a real chance not a la Coutinho minutes under catastrophic coaches.

Maybe if we play them together magic will happen.

Also, aren't they both somewhat the same height? :D

Lautaro
I read an article about him in russian, probably translated from spannish or other languages. Let me share some notes from that article with you.

He was born in Bahía Blanca where the argentinian basketball legend, former NBA player Manu Ginobili was also born. Until his 15 he used to play basketball and dreamed of becoming a NBA star one day, but then realized he wasn't growing any taller and decided to concentrate on football. People immediately found similarities between him and Aguero and started to call him the new Aguero, but he is different, he has his own style mixed with basketball.

Jumping, exceptional concentration, inclusiveness in all episodes, playing in the penalty box - all these are from basketball. Lautaro easily gets rid of defenders, has a sense of goal and the ability to go for a shot. He does not wait in the penalty area and does not fall out of the game when he does not receive the ball. Lautaro is always in motion, covers a large area and regularly comes deep to get the ball. Martinez can not be cut off from midfield.

Because of the mobility he posses , it looks like he is ideal as a forward or false 9, but this is an illusion. 94% of goals he scored are from the penalty box. He is a player of the penalty box, but with some unusual approach: he comes to the penalty box just to make the shot and usually breaks into it from the depths.

The coach from the "Racing" Academy Fabio Radaelli said that there are two players in him: the one who makes the cross, and the one who finishes.

“I envy Lautaro: at his age I didn’t know how to move on the field,” admitted Gabriel Batistuta.

All this came from basketball, where high intensity does not allow for a second to turn off from the game. In basketball Martinez learned to look for space in a tight box and break away from the defenders to receive the ball. He reminds Higuain and Icardi, who are known for ability to destroy man marker at the last moment, but never goes ahead - if necessary, stays on the second line, lets the opponents go forward and eventually wins the moment to shot. But he remain dangerous even if he didn’t manage to get away from his opponent: the 174-cm tall Martinez wins the fight in the penalty box more often than Cristiano, and the lack of physique he makes up by his jumping ability - the skill he learnt in basketball.

“Basketball still helps me: there I learned movement without a ball, shifting to open spaces on time and avoiding defenders,” admitted Martinez.

Concentration:
“The Racing club's psychologist used to do concentration tests regularly, and I always had better results,” said Lautaro. - For example, he would give us a sheet with numbers from 1 to 100 placed in random order. Our task would be to connect the maximum amount, without removing the pen from the paper. I'd score 95 numbers, while the others had around 40-50. Concentration is my gift, thanks to it I stay concentrated all 90 minutes of the match.”

Professionalism:
When Argentina first discussed the future transfer of Martinez no one was afraid he would have adaptation problems. Everyone knew about his professionalism. At the age of 20 years, Lautaro adjusted his life to football, hired a personal nutritionist and completely quit drinking soda, eating sweet and fat foods.

“I always want more, I am never satisfied,” it sounds as though Cristiano is speaking, but this is Martinez. - I try to refine every day, at every workout, accept any challenge and agree to any exercise that the coach gives. I do everything to get better. ”

The next day after the matches, Lautaro asks analysts for videos of his performances, examines each episode and studies his errors in movement and positioning. He consistently tries to eliminate every flaw, every centimeters or extra touches that prevented him in any moment.

There were also some information about his recent contributions to his National team

Martinez scored what, ten goals in Serie A? Barbosa couldn't even crack our bench. They have nothing in common.

6* in the league, 9 in all comps. But yes, while neither Lautaro or Gabigol may have obvious and visibly world class potential like Mbappe, Lautaro has been able to make very good use of what he does have on the pitch. As ADR says, Gabigol couldn't even do it in training and therefore never even saw the pitch.

Why are you guys comparing a different type of player?
We don't even have many strikers available at the moment. In the case of gabigol, marotta and conte need to decide quickly whether they wanted gabigol as part of the squad. He can be useful because he has a knacks for goals.
Lautaro seems to be key player for the new season, whether he can perform, improve lets hope for the best.

Barbosa is on loan at Santos until the end of December; he's not relevant.

In his season at Inter, Gabriel played 111 minutes in Serie A and scored 1 goal, averaging a goal every 111 minutes.
In his season at Inter, Lautaro played 1333 minutes in Serie A and scored 6 goals, averaging a goal every 222 minutes.
So Gabriel was two times better than Lautaro, obviously. :einstein:

Lautaro's agent: "The voice about Barcelona is absolutely true. We were not contacted by anyone but there was a very strong, very important survey. The player is liked by Barcelona, that's for sure...

Someone wants a wage increase I see

It is said that Barcelona asked Inter if they can book Lautaro for next season, which is why some articles about their interest arised. The agent/player don't really need to be informed all the time

His agent needs to really stfu.

His agent is also his employee, so HE should tell him to stfu. And no wonder Argentina can't win shit for years now, their national team is full of full-blown cunts and soon to be cunts, without a hint of respect and humility.

This.... which is why I’m not putting much thought into this. Must PAY to have him on your team PLAY.

Its not about him leaving or staying, for that release clause money I would sell him without thinking twice, but he is here barely a year now and his agent is started talking, first how lautaro would love to play for guardiola and now this shit, trying desperately to cling on something that probably doesn't even exist right now given barcelonas priorities. Just stirring shit for the sake of it and I fuckin hate it...
