I will agree that he looks way less and less world class with each passing day, but also let's not be hasty and wait until the end of the season to pass judgement. He had a pretty good first season after all with a decent amount of goals in his stats.

We are only 3 match days into the season, need I remind you.

Relax guys. He has talent. It's just RAW. Let Chief Conte cook him well with this seasoning.

I'm so tired of hearing this....

What level is this said raw talent of his? Name me several players from the past (distant or near) that had the same talent at his age...

Because I personally have been VERY vocal of him having zero of that "it" factor that will eventually make him good or great, and that's why I've said and keep saying him and Gabigol are the same, sole difference being that Gabigol somehow always scores and always is there to score.

100mil, and he’s Barca’s.

I would give Marotta the benefit of the doubt considering he brought in Sensi and Barella, pretty good talents, especially the prior for a little sum.

As long as there is no Conte frenzy must-get-at-all-cost, I think we can do fairly well with that money.

But in all honesty if he continues playing like this week in week out, the offer would probably be halved and it would probably not be worth it.

We always have problems selling at the right time. Perisic should have been sold for 50-60m just 1 year earlier, now we pray to get 1/3 that amount. Similar to Icardi. Or further to the last stars... Maicon, Sneijder.

Our problem wasn't buying flop alone. But bought when price at top and sold at bottom.. a recipe to disaster.

If anyone offer 70m for Lautaro, just take that and run. Marotta, unlike Ausilio, knows how to spend big money.

No one is offering anything close to his release clause any time soon so I don't think we need to worry or think about selling him. If fans want him replaced with someone else, that's a different matter and that's their opinion to have, which is fine.

As critical as I am of the player, I want to see him play a starting role for the majority of the season next to Lukaku. I don't believe a 343 will be a sudden improvement either.

Ultimately it'll be as simple as whether Lautaro (and Lukaku too for that matter) can give Conte what he wants. If he can't, he won't play, and that's fair.

It's not as if Conte is playing Lautaro out of position on the wing or anything. He isn't asking him to do anything unreasonable or way out of his skill set. Conte is asking him to learn how to play and be a dynamic and involved forward with good tactical sense and good movement.

These are all things that ANY top class forward should possess. These are also mentally-demanding skills pertaining to ones game sense, application of tactical instructions and knowledge, not ones physical prowess - which means if he can't learn them, he's an idiot. They determine who is a smart footballer and who is not. This is what I'll be monitoring from Lautaro's game over the next year. If he can't get a grasp on this, then he really is no fucking better than Gabigol.

Should have had atleast one goal today. That pass from Sensi deserved a goal. I hope Sanchez takes his place.

We seem to be a better team once he comes off. Didn't think it would be like this, but now i'm always happy when i see Politano warming up.

I liked his game, I think that he should learn to pass the ball at the right time, but I think he played well, had some chances and was actually very generous in pressing and helping up top.

Well said. However we need not forget that the man just turned 22. Perspectives over the last few years shifted with standards being raised at lower and lower ages since players like Mbappe and other wonderkids showed up.

Experience matters a lot when it comes to these things. Lukaku is 26, he's got 4 years on Lautaro, 4 years are a long time to grow and develop.

If he can prove himself this season that he's good enough for a starting spot, great. If he's still a bit raw I don't think we should be trying to get rid of him, he still has time to grow. We've got Sanchez for this season and Politano who are good enough to fill the role next to Lukaku.

I want him to be what Icardi failed to be.. An absolute Inter legend like Milito
Some players you just don't sell even for crazy money and I think this 22 year old can be special... Again he is 22 years old...he has so much room to grow, Maybe Icardi scored more at his age but Lautaro is a dangerous player all the time, even outside the box he does important things ... He never stops, his grinta is exceptional
Also his goal should have stood, there was no fucking offside from Dumbo.

As I posted just yesterday, I will be watching his involvement and decision making closely. Credit to him, he put in a generally positive performance. I would give him 6.5/10.

It's easy to be swayed by the positive result but being as objective as I can, I felt like this was a typical Lautaro performance in that there were still many poor plays he made - only this time, he just about balanced it out with enough good plays too.

First of all, he ran and chased and harried defenders like a maniac. That was great to see. He did excellently to feed the ball to Lukaku for that right footed shot Donnarumma saved. He did generally well in getting involved and hustling and making a nuisance of himself to the Milan defence. I liked the dynamism in his game in that he roamed a lot and his movement was good. He did much better with the simple things like bringing teammates into play with safe and smart passes which allowed us to avoid stupid turnovers, and maintain possession and pressure. (I think he only tried 1 backheel flick the whole game!) He also had a legitimate goal disallowed IMO. These were the good things.

The bad things were more or less the same as always. He goes to ground way too easily looking for fouls. Not only that, I'm convinced he could've reached that Rodriguez backpass and intercepted it before Donnarumma had he just stayed on his feet. That way he could've collected the ball and rounded the keeper or tried to clip him and get a penalty or just recycled possession. Instead he lunged into some sliding half-block, half-shot, which was probably the most useless way to take advantage of that situation.

That shot he took which resulted in the D'Ambrosio miss/post, should've been much better too. He had much more time and space than he realized. Should have managed better than a weak side-footed shot which was placed too centrally.

There were a few frustrating moments where he should've had the sense to pass earlier but ended up losing the ball after biting off more than he could chew.

Overall though, like I said, a good match. The same negatives from the Slavia match etc were definitely still there, but he was able to balance them out with positive moments. As I said in my last post, I'm looking forward (or hoping) to see these lingering letdowns in his play slowly disappear over time as he becomes a smarter player. Today was a good step in the right direction. He needs to stay smart and keep it up.

Lautaro reminds me a lot of Dirk Kuyt & Mario Mandzukic. A sloppy workhorse. But that doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing.

Yeah, he will never be a 20-goal a season striker, probably not even more than 10. His techniques are too fucking sloppy for a goalscorer. But he makes up for it with his immense work rate and grinta. Definitely lacks intelligence as his decision making is simply atrocious, but that is something that can be improved on. He'll be a much better player once he learns when to overdo and when not to.

Still a good player to have, but I'd prefer to see Sanchez instead of him.

Lol, if you think he'll never be more than a 10 goal a season striker then he's straight up useless :yao:

No man. Kuyt & Mandzukic didn't score that many in their careers but still considered useful & appreciated. There are strikers that suck at scoring goals, but still loved by coaches because their presence is a fucking nuisance for the oppositions' defenders.

Still, I would love to be proven by Lautaro though. :D

Again i m not saying he wont reach a top level but that video means fucking nothing when will people learn that a couple of fancy tricks mean nothing?
Zarate, Jovetic, Bojan, EL sharawy, shick, Keita, cassano all players who were more than capable to pull of shit like that and they did not amount to anything special.

The key is if you are a smart enough player so that you know when to do shit like that and when to play it simple and what you do after the nutmeg and imho thus far thats what lautaro lacks.
Basically i think he still needs to learn a lot and is far from being a sure bet and with sanchez on the bench he s gonna need to step it up sooner rather than later or his starting spot is gonna be gone.

If El Toro was Italian he would be called the most underrated striker of all time by FIF.

Y’all want him to be world class right away.... he’s been better than lukaku as a whole IMO.

Y’all want Eder back instead of Lautaro????
