That only matters if the selling club actually wants to sell, why should they be reasonable unless forced to by a prearranged reason?
Goes back to a Barca fan i was arguing with on reddit who was thinking Inter should accept the ~70million euro deals, "Because thats what hes worth to Barca"
Not the same comparison at all, I'm not suggesting that fee should be what the player is worth
to Barca - I was speaking about market prices, particularly in COVID era. Market adjusts and even at the outset of transfer rumours, I speculated that the first couple of big transfers would likely influence the market for others that followed - that's simple business, even with a contract or clauses
Inter have the leverage since they have a player under contract they
don't want to sell that includes a clause for a window where they would
have to sell should the 110M be paid in full (Similar to what happened with Neymar in 2017). The caveat is linked to what even Moratti pointed out, most big clubs do not insist on keeping players who want to go.
So the question is, does Lautaro truly want to go? If yes, Inter has to decide how badly they want to keep a player whose head/heart is elsewhere or what minimum terms they would accept
in spite of the aforementioned clause - a clause no one will recognize in COVID era much less revised transfer window. The x-factor as I see it remains the player. Once him & his management team see the market and assesses the position of both clubs, he could pressure for a move if there is unreasonable imbalance. Or he could happily remain with a contract improvement.
I have only speculated that I see a player that wants to come to Barca, leaving only when & how much. I also see a player who has been quiet and respectful of Inter up to now. In transfers, that atmosphere can change if there is intransigence so we'll see
Update:
MD confirming terms between Inter & Barca remain far apart after Werner deal has influenced market. Also suggesting only Lautaro's involvement/reaction would be able to possibly affect the outcome. Basically underscoring what I have already posted as the club is indirectly pressuring player to react else no deal possible
