So they are still short of €20m, reject and let them figure it out. Barcelona`s finances are not our problems.

Nobody cared when Inter had 0 euros, now it's time we are in a strong position.
I can't imagine it is in Lautaros interest to go to Barca, knowing that they don't have money to buy other good players for a great team in the future. It's like jumping into the sinking ship.

Personally, I weep at the job Abidal has done but that's me

Also, €55M paid by Qataris for Icardi & €60M by Chelsea for Werner likely to influence the market price for Lautaro - clause or not

Werner had a release clause, which was paid, and Inter were desperately trying to offload Icardi. They're not similar situations with Lautaro.

That only matters if the selling club actually wants to sell, why should they be reasonable unless forced to by a prearranged reason?

Goes back to a Barca fan i was arguing with on reddit who was thinking Inter should accept the ~70million euro deals, "Because thats what hes worth to Barca"

So nice that for once in the last 4-5 years, we don't need to sell. I'd actually forgotten what it was like to be in the position of power in negotiations.

Who was the last player we sold that we weren't really okay with selling?

Probably Ronaldo. We wanted to keep Ibrahimovic but in the end the deal was too good to refuse.

Like others said, Icardi was sold so low because the seller had put itself to a position where even discounts had to be accepted to the original option price because seller was a desperate to get it done. As for Werner, he signed a renewal last season, he was promised a move if he stays one year with Leipzig, by putting a decent release clause price to his contract to make it almost certain he will get his transfer this summer (and it happened/happens).

Neither of these cases are anywhere close to Lautaro's case. There's no urgency to sell, there's no promise of a move. Only thing which is the same is that there is a clause which can be activated. It can be activated with euros.

Not the same comparison at all, I'm not suggesting that fee should be what the player is worth to Barca - I was speaking about market prices, particularly in COVID era. Market adjusts and even at the outset of transfer rumours, I speculated that the first couple of big transfers would likely influence the market for others that followed - that's simple business, even with a contract or clauses

Inter have the leverage since they have a player under contract they don't want to sell that includes a clause for a window where they would have to sell should the 110M be paid in full (Similar to what happened with Neymar in 2017). The caveat is linked to what even Moratti pointed out, most big clubs do not insist on keeping players who want to go.

So the question is, does Lautaro truly want to go? If yes, Inter has to decide how badly they want to keep a player whose head/heart is elsewhere or what minimum terms they would accept in spite of the aforementioned clause - a clause no one will recognize in COVID era much less revised transfer window. The x-factor as I see it remains the player. Once him & his management team see the market and assesses the position of both clubs, he could pressure for a move if there is unreasonable imbalance. Or he could happily remain with a contract improvement.

I have only speculated that I see a player that wants to come to Barca, leaving only when & how much. I also see a player who has been quiet and respectful of Inter up to now. In transfers, that atmosphere can change if there is intransigence so we'll see

Update: MD confirming terms between Inter & Barca remain far apart after Werner deal has influenced market. Also suggesting only Lautaro's involvement/reaction would be able to possibly affect the outcome. Basically underscoring what I have already posted as the club is indirectly pressuring player to react else no deal possible

"covid era" What era is this you talking about? Let the sales begin and then talk about prices and this era. You make up conclusions on things that hasn't happened.

Inter doing anything else than wait for that 111bid is retarded. Barcelona went out with 150m euro for a Coutinho they did not need. El Toro will be needed badly at Barcelona and if they want the el torothen look at the clause.

Clearly this kind of player is not suited for Barcelona.

Kovacic, Coutinho, Icardi for that price.

Players that I felt I weren't okey to give back. Telles, Rolando.

It's not so much who we sold, it was getting lowballed or clubs being hardasses due to us needing to meet FFP requirements by a certain date. Plus I imagine it's nice for Ausilio not have to essentially evacuate the Primavera each summer.
