What is the apology gesture for? If it was directed for his goal drought and recent performances, then wow… The fact he feels he is doing less is enough in my eyes to be respected.

He shouldn’t have been subbed.
I really think he was only subbed because we’ve got Shaktar on Wednesday and we seemed to have Napoli wrapped up at 3–1.

here's from his interview after Napoli match.
“I celebrated the goal and apologized to the fans. I apologized because I made mistakes. Making mistakes is not a problem but doing it while Inter don’t win is a big deal. I always try my best for Inter. Scudetto? We’re taking one step at a time.”

What are the words that come to mind when you think about Lautaro?

I think his apology to the fans reveals who he is as a person. He did not actually owe anyone an apology for his penalty miss against Milan or his goal drought. However, he came out after the game against Napoli and apologised. In that gesture alone, one could read between the lines to see that he has possibly been carrying the burden of our dropped points against Milan throughout international duty.

In that gesture alone, you can see that he cares about the club, its supporters, the team's results and is willing to take responsibility for his struggles.

In football today, it is rare for a player to make such a gesture. Lautaro is the exact kind of player that I want playing for Inter.

Yeah Inzaghi said after the game Shakhtar game is more important. That was a bad move regarding this particular match because Perisic was dead tired when Lautaro came off (and Perisic replaced him). But yeah the reason was CL.

I must say, this guy can make me mad as fuck, but when he score, im so happy for him, i really want he will be the our main goal scoring target..
Also, he didnt have to apology to anyone, bigger players than him miss pens in a lot bigger game than bbilan, but i think is show how kind of person he is, its very rare to see that kind of act in now football days..

skill wise and experience its all about process and that takes time.

Good goal, the celebration shows that he really felt that goal drought it was a nice rare gesture that he didn't really have to do, imo.
That being said he needs to learn how to stay calm and concentrated. He gets easily frustrated and stressed and a stressed Lautaro plays very very bad.

Let's hope he builds up confidence and rides that wave we need those goals.

Big game this wednesday !

Glad that he scored but even a broken clock is right twice a day. After all I've seen from him it's hard not to remain skeptical. I am happy for his goal and will be even happier to be proven wrong if he can get a good streak going.

He has the mentality of a champion. The tireless running, always knowing where to be (thanks for Conte for this). Not a natural clinical finisher but very few players, even strikers are at the top level.

Despite that I just love this player. The apologizing gesture was like, oh man, this guy really cares about this thing he's doing.
This is embarrasing.....We're turning in to nice-guy club where trying and "almost" are celebrated. "Champions" don't step aside from their responsibilities, they take charge. Toro gave out the penalty because he didn't want to deal with the embarrassment, which is fair enough because not everyone is built for that, but Toro is our #10 and one of the highest paid players at the club, what are we paying him to do exactly? Can't hide behind future potential and gestures forever.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned but if Toro wants to appease the fans and make up for poor performances, how about he works on his game? Gestures are nice but we don't get trophies for those.

I really don't get your issue with the penalty. As long as the ball ends in the back of the net who fucking cares about who takes the penalty. So far Hakan seems to be better at penalties than Lautaro and he should be the designated penalty taker. It doesn't make him less of a player or less of a leader. He just isn't good enough to take the penalties. There's no shame in that. Why do we have to force it on him? If anything it's a good thing his ego didn't come in the way and demanded to take the penalty. In case he had missed one for a second game in a row it would have been a disaster. Instead he let Hakan take it.

Take Milan for example. No one can deny Ibrahimovic is their leader. He used to take their penalties but after few misses he realised he isn't good enough for it and he just lets Kessie takes them who is much better at penalties. Another example is your team in Germany. Reus used to take Dortmund penalties but after few misses he just lets Haaland takes them. That's what a true leader does. He puts the team before himself.

He doesn't cause problems with fans, on the contrary they love him. He doesn't have discipline issues. Doesn't conflict with players. Scores important goals. Looks like a dream player for me. Yeah he falls down easily, but who is flawless? Everyone have their weaknesses.

Forum would be boring if we all agreed 100% of the time.

Don't get me started on Reus  But Reus is captain and when in form, Dortmund play better with him as the fulcrum of the offense. Ditto Ibra, once he came Milan's fortunes changed infinitely with as the target man and defacto leader. Now what is Toro's telling contribution as our #10 and one of the highest paid? We can get Cutrone to hustle and press and behave and gesticulate to fans for a fraction of the price (not serious, just making a point).

And lets not act like Hakan is some PK specialist, he was never a first choice taker at his previous teams, it's only right now because he's better than Toro which, if I was Toro and a #10, I would be embarrassed about. It's bad enough Dzeko is our main striker, now this smh. Just like a player should know and demand his worth, we as a club should demand and expect from our players. But as I had said, maybe I'm just old fashioned in my thinking.

Come on bro, I can be disappointed or dissatisfied with Lautaro not scoring in a fucking month. The penalty stuff though?? Nah, that shit is what it is - some feel it and some don’t, and whoever feels it on the day should take it. I can never fault a player for choosing not to take a pen, it’s not easy. However I do love players who rise to the occasion so I understand the sentiment, I just feel there are a lot of intangibles to taking penalties that makes it hard to criticise the players choices around them. BUT I also agree that being a designated penalty taker you should practice the shit out of it. So yeah…

Read again what Il Drago said. There's the truth.

Lautaro is a great player, great man. He puts the team and winning ahead of his own glory. He fucking apologized from the fans for his past mistakes (of not scoring etc). This guy is just awesome and we're lucky we have such characters in our team.

A striker who falls down every 2 seconds, rolls around like he was knocked out will never be a top striker in my book. Aside from his work rate and some great goals he gets he is an average striker at best and his temperament doesn't look like its improving either.

If he doesn't work on these 2 aspects he will never be a top striker, at Inter, with Argentina nor with any other club.
