Conte had a worse start last season...spoiled drama queens
one defeat and everything is lost?
I think you forget that conte had players like lukaku, hakimi and eriksen..
I really want to be optimistic, but we not have any difference maker players that we can count on them this season, our attacking play massively downgraded with lukaku and hakimi gone and our defense is really disgraceful so far...

Conte won the next seven, full 21/21 points lol.
Let's see if Inzaghi could do better than that.

We actually looked pretty good for stretches of this game, then a penalty from nowhere. It was a penalty but man I’m not sure what Bastoni is supposed to do.
The idea that you can head or kick a ball straight into a man's hand from a range of centimetres and it is deemed deliberate on the side of the defender, all because it's not in a 'natural' position, is ludicrous.

Shitty ending to a mediocre performance. We had decent stretches but Lazio just had fresher legs than we did. Again they have very few internationals compared to us. I don’t blame Lazio stopping play when Dimarco was on the ground. Lautaro didn’t stop…

We need to bounce back against Sheriff. Will it happen? I don’t have much confidence. Inzaghi’s gung ho tactics are not working and our defense is a fucking nightmare. I don’t even expect clean sheets anymore.

I'm surprised we're even doing this "well" tbh. We lost 3 world class players. That's not something you just bounce back from.

I disagree, Lautaro did not stop because he did not see that di marco is on the ground when you see the replay

Fouls aren't always deliberate.

Didn't catch the highlights yet but this "natural position" thing is a bit silly. The whole rule on handballs is.

I think in situations like Bastoni's handball, in which it's not a deliberate handball and the hand is in a natural position the referee must decide if the blocked ball was going toward the goal or to a teammate. If that's the case then the penalty is the right call.

From what I remember that ball was a weak shot and was not going to be a threat, so I wouldn't have called that a penalty. Players have hands. They can't cut them down or hide them behind their back in every situation. Calling every handball a penalty, specially in cases like Bastoni's is not a fair call IMO.

Yeah, but can you imagine what kind of rabbit hole we can be stuck in if refs started to judge on the spot if something was deliberate or not, especially something like handball, what kind of open space for manipulation can that be. I think every handball like the bastoni one should be a penalty.

If it hits you like that, well fuck it, it's bad luck, but it should be a penalty. It's not a perfect solution, but it's the simplest and most transparent. Every time you have these subsets of rules that describe what constitutes a handball, you have a huge alibi for corrupt or incompetent refs to get away with it.

The Bastoni penalty is when the game changed.

Inzaghi went for the win with his substitutions, which I would rather he do than settle for a draw.

The players Inzaghi put on the pitch didn’t perform, it’s not his fault.

If every handball gets called a penalty then every player try to deliberately aim it toward a player's hand to get an easy penalty. We will have a rabit hole in both situations, so i think it's fair if the ref decides if a certain handball deserves to be called a penalty or not. This makes more sense than just calling any handball a penalty and change the course of a game.

Inzaghi subs were the usual subs he makes. I didn't see any indication he was going for the win. He often likes to take off Bastoni, put Dimarco in defense and bring in another wingback. This was the fifth game he has made a similar sub. All the other subs were pretty conservative. He changed players but he kept exactly the same setup. Correa for Perisic. Vecino for Gagliardini. Lautaro for Dzeko. Zero risks. The only "risky" sub was Hakan for Barella but it happened too late and match was already over by then.

This request for postponement responds to the already known fact of the extension by FIFA of the international period of Conmebol selections until Thursday night, October 14

Pissed it away there but it’s not so surprising as:
- Lolberto Gagliardini should not play under any circumstances
- Vecino is not much better
- We don’t seem to have an alternative to Dzeko
- we are wasteful as usual.

Lazio’s second was cheap and nasty, but I don’t really blame them for it to be honest. They didn’t brake the rules, it just wasn’t fair play. Actually we left Anderson totally free somehow for the rebound, which was our mistake.
I still can’t believe that we’re playing 21-22 Serie A season having to deal with Gag and Vecino problems.

I also never thought that would ever happen in this life time, but here I’m quoting the infamous Rizzoli himself:
Rizzoli: ′′ We can't take away the possibility of instinctive movement from the defender: if the arm couldn't be more portrayed it shouldn't be punishable. The goal is to allow defenders not to play like penguins ".

Strange times we live in.

The way I see it is that after Lazio equalized Inzaghi could have taken a more defensive approach and :

  • just replaced Dzeko with Lautaro and kept Dimarco, Perisic, and bastoni on the field;
  • Replaced Perisic with Hakan or Vecino and kept Gagliardini.
Instead, he brought on two strikers- Lautaro and Correa for Perisic and Dzeko- not like for like.

Dimarco as LCB is more offensive then Bastoni and indeed, I believe Insaghi does it play past the press of the opposition.
