I always had a feeling he doesn't actaully give a shit about CR7. It's quite a commercialized rivalry imo.

I don't believe for a second he's coming to Inter, but if the immposible does happen I think it won't be because of some drummed up personal rivalry.

I believe Bartomeu wants that Messi comes out and says he wants to leave (if there are any truth to the rumors). So before that happens, he needs to keep it publicly like he just stated.

they don't hate each other, but both being competitors, it's inconceivable that either party just doesn't care or even think about the other in any context when reflecting

but i agree i like their generally friendly relationship though as much as media tries to pin them against each other as adversaries, they are more like competitive peers than rivals, truly has been an incredible time in football with them playing at such a high level with such consistensy for so many years

Another human victory cigar. Conte would go ballistic again for not giving him Vidal.

Prefer he goes to AC Milan or Juve and bankrupts them. Or Him and Ronaldo both get red carded for fighting over who gets the ball or takes a PK :)

If Messi want to be put in a rivalry it would be with Maradonna or Cruyiff or R9, What's CR7 business with ultimate legends?

Marcelo Bechler, the one who broke Neymar to PSG and now that Messi wants to leave Barcelona, has sources inside Messi's camp and tsays on TyC Sports (an Argentinian channel) that Messi hasn't denied or called Fake News on Instagram or Twitter the latest news like he has done many times before.

He also says there is nothing and has never been anything with Inter, this comes from Messi's camp not just Barcelona.

This time certainly feels different eventhough I anticpated him going to City with Pep 2 years ago when there was similar concerns about his continuity - right before he began to be more public in his disapproval of Bartomeu & the board. He has progressively ramped his public criticisms up but to no avail from where he sits. It's why I believe, Barto looks to be calling his bluff - except I don't think Messi will blink

I think he'll go to City

I don't like the fact that this thread even exists.

Honestly if Bartomeu sells Messi this off-season it would be the only good decision he has made as President.

Remember the decision isn't just between keeping Messi or not, it's between selling him and getting rid of his wages or signing him for at the very least 3 more years to the current contract on astronomical wages, so Messi would be at least 37 when the new contract runs out.

For the money you'll save on Messi's wages you could easily pay Neymar's transfer fee. Now the problem is that would Neymar want to return without Messi at the club, and the little fact you have to basically rebuild the whole team.

Neymar left because of Messi. Or at least being in his shadow.

I know this means very little with behind the scenes ongoings, but I visited camp nou when neymar was still there. There was wayyyy more neymar advertising, like barca were trying to promote and advertise him way more than Messi. Was weird

Does the club have to pay Messi if they use him for advertising? I bet he'd be a lot more expensive

It is image rights related. Cannot tell you what and why, because I don't really know any of those details, but that sounds like it's exactly the case.

Wouldn't Barca own Messi's rights? Or at least part of them? Although I suppose that could have to do with something he worked out with the club in his contract. I'd say it also has to do with the fact Neymar was viewed as the heir to Messi's throne. Everyone knows Messi and he's viewed as a god in Spain. Pretty much any fan of Barca already has his jersey. Speaking from my experience in the marketing field, it's a lot easier to advertise something young, new, and exciting. You don't really have to advertise a Rolls Royce or Ferrari. Results speak for themselves.
