interesting article - he's obviously at least partially in the know with spanish footballl stuff and we dont get mentioned, so it seems like inter isnt a realistic possibility FYI

It is image rights related. Cannot tell you what and why, because I don't really know any of those details, but that sounds like it's exactly the case.

I bet it has a lot to do with Nike, why promote the biggest star of your biggest competitor when you can use your second biggest star to promote the team you sponsor.

It's unreal thinking that Messi can sign for Inter or for another team... He will play in Barcelona until he end his career of course.

Bookies have us and Man City as the favorites to sign him if he leaves.

I could think that Messi wants to play again for Guardiola... Moreover Man City has much much more money than us, so i think that it's much more probable to see Rubentus winning a TRIPLETE than Messi signing for Inter xD

I don't like the fact that this thread even exists.

This thread was opened back when I was a reckless unguided bellyless baldless handsome (very handsome) young man. Life has taken everything from, please don’t take away this memory too

Apparently he’s told Koeman he’s more likely to leave than stay. Interesting

RAC1: Messi does not see his future clearly at Barça. He has told Koeman that he is thinking of leaving more than staying, but he is aware that leaving this summer would be very difficult due to his contract. Barcelona knows Messi's intention to possibly leave, but they maintain he is still under contract and will not consider what he said to Koeman earlier.

He's always said that when he wanted a raise.

Messi isn't going anywhere

He's already reached the ceiling, there's no more raise available. He wants out.

Makes sense to accept for both parties.

I don't see Messi being attracted to Man City at all. The only charm there is Aguero and Guardiola being present and the allure of winning the club's first CL. But it's fuckin City and it's freaking Manchester. If Di Maria was depressed there, Messi will go suicidal.

Not that this matters but I think Messi would have a much easier time with Italian than English. I think he will stay at Barca though.. at least for another season.

side note: could you imagine him defending under Conte? He would have to be extra humble to come here-- at least if Conte is the manager.

There are many who think Messi will bankrupt us or whatever.

People still do not seem to understand what caused Inter to fuck up last decade. Sure, it was a high salary structure, but it wasn't just a couple of players. It was mostly the lack of revenue. Our revenues came from Moratti throwing money at the club and when he stopped, it became uneconomical. It's different now.

We are now becoming kings of revenue without the benefit of owning our stadium.
Messi will boost those revenues to even higher heights. The short term effect will be important, but if we manage to win and sustain our core squad, it'll trickle down the years and become a long term system. But we'll need to replace him eventually with another big name and ensure that we mix and match between "good deals" and top players. The Inter way of Zidanes y Pavones.

Messi will cost a lot of money. But we can always come into an arrangement where he gets a ton of sponsorship money and image rights boost in China without involving Inter. We can also get additional sponsors to be involved, such as Pirelli (at best 10m), companies like Samsung or Alibaba with whom we have great relationships with or others who will just smell the hype. Suning knows how to work this through. Our only concern is if they decide to abandon ship once Messi retires or leaves and them the new people are incompetent fucks.

If we get rid of the contracts of Joao Mario, Nainggolan, Perisic, Valero, Asamoah and Lazaro, we are cutting our expenses by a little north of €30m in total per season. That excludes any transfer fees coming in. Obviously given that Perisic and Mario are covered mostly by their teams that's not the complete picture.

Stop looking at the capital gains and book values. Those days are gone. Still important, but not crucial. Now what is crucial is overall spending.

Messi makes a ton of money and can make even more, but if he wants to move, he won't he motivated by money. He'll just get pissed if we don't throw a large sum at him. I think a 20-25m salary should suffice. That pretty much is covered by the players I mentioned leaving, ignoring that we are making plans to sell a couple of others such as Brozovic and Skriniar (provided Conte remains).

Messi coming will put Inter not only on the map, as we've returned on the map last season and this year we've managed to salvage it and turn it around by reaching the final, but make us once again the epicenter of world football. This is why Suning is here, this is Inter's dna and this is what we should be pursuing. It's being at the right place at the right time. The positives outweigh the negatives.

Fingers crossed this actually goes through.
