And how come it's always the Italian teams that get the bad decisions in the knock out stages..Always the English and the Spanish team gets the rub of the green..Why always so???
Uefa are cunts that only care about viewership; Spanish and English teams have more viewers.

I mean, thanks Arsene, but Sanchez should have probably walked for the first challenge so the red is fair overall.
Exactly. I can't complain because he was incredibly fortunate to still be on the pitch

You cannot fix a mistake with another mistake guys.

The red was a disgrace. If Sanchez got a red in the first challenge no one could say anything.

I did 'call' it that we're probably going to have controversies like the 2008 Liverpool games. Against us of course. Same thing happened with Manchester United in 1998-99 and 2008-09.

Back to the match I think the set up was right.
Inzaghi used Sanchez and Martinez against Matip and van Dijk, both are slow and short, couldn't do much damage to Liverpool CBs. But I don't think that's Inzaghi's main idea. For whole match we can see that he wants a stabilised midfield, at least if not controlling it, breaking Liverpool's press. Sanchez dropped down and ran like mad to support midfield, Lautaro ran to draw CBs out to make space for Dumfries who would have cross from other sites. Dumfries had multiple occasions was so high outside of the box, in the middle, immediately press in case he couldn't get the ball to prevent counter attack. We could see it from first half, sadly this routine didn't work out much with 0-0 before second half. Red card obviously killed the match for us, I believe we would have 2nd goal. Hakan is unsung hero to me, he had a good match, covered the role of Barella well.

It was a fair call. The first foul was 1.5 yellows. The 2nd one was 0.5 yellow. You have to be naive if you think thats not how it works in football practically. Thats how ref's usually work. In the ref's mind, he had a niggling doubt that he let Sanchez off lightly after the first foul. So he must have been itching to send Sanchez off - Sanchez probably knew that, judging by his reaction immediately after the 2nd foul. The 2nd foul in isolation may not have been a yellow, but in the ref's mind overall Sanchez deserved his sending off.

I think its a fair call. The ref was overall quite rubbish with some random decisions, but on this one we cannot complain. Its like when a player gets a yellow for a accumulation of fouls, the last foul by itself may not be deserving a yellow.

quick mafs?

You have to be naive if you think thats not how it works in football. Most referees work like that. I'm sure in the ref's mind, he wasn't sure if he should have sent Sanchez off after the first foul. He gave Sanchez the benefit of doubt there. So he must have been itching to send Sanchez off. The 2nd foul in isolation wasn't a yellow, but in the ref's mind overall Sanchez deserved his sending off.

Doesn't make it right.

Ref started off well but then decided to become a protagonist.

Fabinho could have received a yellow on two instances, did not receive any.
Gagliardini got one for complaining about something he was right...

I love Carragher still managed to make it about EPL being far superior than Serie A as the reason a Liverpool side that was far from their best still managed to qualify. Let's forget Inter were coming off their own crisis, played in both matches without Barella, had 2 injuries during the second leg and finished the game with 10 men.
Unbelievable how it can't be called out by other pundits. Liverpool have won 12 games in a row, we have won one game in a month and have been scoreless in 4 of our last 5, but he gets away with spreading that shit.

Brehme I know what you mean, two wrongs don't make a right and all that, but I honestly can't complain too much.
If it was the other way around I'd be going crazy if they had a player still on the field after those two tackles.

Gagliardini yes got a yellow because a free was given against him that was never a free. However the very next action was skriniar shouldering salah in the back, a very obvious foul that wasnt given too.

Can't disagree with your general sentiment but this is something that Van Dijk did also while both Vidal and Lautaro also suffered from it at times in the game. No fouls given at all.

Yeah. It's plain ridiculous. Liverpool are one of the top 3 teams in Europe, along with City and Bayern. It was the ultimate test against the top. We faced a Liverpool side that:

- had won 12 games in a row (like you said)
- had gone just once goalless at Anfield the entire season (0-0 against Arsenal in League Cup semi-finals in early January)
- hadn't lost at Anfield since 7 March 2021 (0-1 vs. Fulham)

I don't put much thought into what Carragher or many other English pundits say. That's very typical of them to say such a thing.

I actually came to realization that many of them deliberately say something outrageous to get talked about. An outrageous and controversial claim usually gets more clickbaits than something fair and rational.

In short: don't feed the trolls.

They've trolled themselves so hard over the last 25 years that this has become their genuine opinion.

I loved the moment Martinez shut up the BT commentators who were fanboying hard over VVD all the fucking time.

Not mad at Sanchez at all. He fought all he could. He wanted to win so bad. Harsh indeed, but from the refereeing point of view, I can understand it.

For Inter fans, and even the neutrals, it was a shame because it ruined what could have been a thrilling final 20 minutes. Liverpool, who I consider one of the top 3 teams in the whole planet, were shitting their pants. Even some football fans and pundits in England thought Liverpool could have crumbled if we had 11 players in those final 20 minutes.

Was watching the game with my long time hardcore Liverpool fan. He was scared shitless during the game, especially after we went 1-0 up.

Nothing to be proud of about not qualifying to the next round of course. But it is what it is. On the brightside, let's go gun blazing for the Scudetto.

mancini is and
Seen this before on Twitter, via a link on Empire of the Kop forum. So just popped back on to say much respect to the Inter fans, really appreciate them taking time out to do this. The Inter fans even had a photo taken with the Urchins! So the Inter fans must have been good lads, because the Urchins aren't the friendliest to the opposition fans normally, to say the least. This is what footballs about for me, meeting opposition fans, mixing well and mutual respect.
Thanks for tolerating me on here as an opposition fan, it's MUCH different than the last time I was on here when we played you! Talk about abuse lol, even the Mods were joining in :) So cheers lads, even though I know some probably won't have wanted an opposition fan here. They put up with us, much appreciated. Gbye and good luck!

Anyway I don't understand what people want more from Simone, keep in mind what squad he is working with.
Also keep in mind that this is his first season. He already achieved more in CL than Conte in two years with better roster last season.

I'm mad almost every week at him and some of his weird choices/subs but in the end when you draw the line he is the right man for this club and I'm glad his extension is coming very soon. We can then hope he can fix some of his mistakes.

Literally there is no perfect coach without weak spots and strange decisions and I can assure you even Klopp or Guardiola have many critics from Liverpool and City fans during/after their games.

Every coach has their flaws. I think its easy to forget Inzaghi hasn't even been coaching for long.

Just score 1 goal and don't embarass ourselves
even just winning, even if we don't go through, would be good, because MONEY
This is exactly what happened, are you guys happy?

I mean considering the fact that they hit the bar 3 times and Sanchez got deliberately sent off, it doesn`t look bad. But it seemed like Inzaghi only cared about the image.
That should be a card for Alexis.
Felt like someone bet a lot of money that he gets a red card. Every single tackle he made was a red flag, like he deliberately wanted to leave the pitch early...

What worries me is that Inzaghi does not seem to have winning mentality... he never hoped/dreamed/believed for the qualification. He seemed to sub in Gosens and then nah.
