Lorenzo Pirola was born in Carate Brianza on 20 February 2002. The left-sided central defender has been a youth player at Inter since 2015 when he joined as a thirteen-year-old.

He won the Italian youth league during his time with the Under-16s and Under-17s, as well as the Supercoppa Italiana with the U17s.
Pirola has featured for the Italian National Youth Teams from the Under-15s up to the Under-18s. He was a part of the U17 Azzurrini side that came second at the 2019 U17 European Championship. He was also a regular starter for the Italy team that competed in the 2019 U17 World Cup.

Noticed we didn't have a thread for this kid yet.

I think there's a chance he will stay with the team. There's been rumors Conte has blocked his loan moves as he wants to keep the kid. That would also help a bit with CL list if he's serviceable at all, since he's club-trained.

Schira reports Pirola is in, won't be loaned out because Conte wants to keep him (and Ranocchia out of the project). He was asked by a lot of Serie B clubs for a loan deal.

Let's see how this evolves. Even if Ranocchia decided to stay, I wouldn't ship Pirola anywhere. He's club-trained (see this post) and if Conte feels he's serviceable so he could stay, no reason to send him away. We are basically set with defenders now but Pirola would add the security there as D'Ambrosio and Kolarov probably also serve as backups to WBs to some extent.

yep, it seems clear what is the idea. Bastoni was tested in the center of defence in the last friendly against Pisa, so I guess we don't need Ranocchia anymore. It will be Skriniar/D'Ambrosio - De Vrij - Bastoni defence and Bastoni in the middle while De Vrij is absent with Kolarov on the left then. Pirola as left-foot defender can also play there, so he would be another option.

Are we though? I don't think so. With Godin gone and Ranocchia out of the project, our backup options for defence are D'Ambrosio, Kolarov, Darmian and Pirola. From those players, the only natural cb is a primavera kid. For me it isn't good enough. We need one more cb who's good enough to start in case one of the starters have to miss a game.

I set the assumption Ranocchia is still here, because well, he's still here. If Ranocchia departs, then we need to add a defender indeed.

Conte insisted to keep Bastoni last season and that actually was a great decision. If he wants to keep Pirola now, so he has something in mind. Especially if he rates Pirola more than Ranocchia.

No.

If he indeed stays and replaces Rano for that 6th spot defender, then I hope it will add to this "Conte just wants 40 year olds" discussion. It's ofcourse possible Conte was told he has to have him there, but knowing Conte I think it's unlikely.

If he thinks Pirola is good enough to stay, I'm looking forward to seeing more of him this season.

Conte gave him a shout out in the presser. Guess he believes in the kid, hopefully he can win himself some minutes this year and hold his own. He's still very young though-- no where near as experienced as Bastoni was last year. I wouldn't expect the same type of breakout, but it could still be a positive season for him.

Wow. Conte is counting on some young kid?

He must have been drunk.

Hardly likely unless Bastoni or De Vrij injures himself badly. Not saying it would be likely then but at least he might get to play some serious minutes.

UPDATE: This morning, Pescara asked Inter for the loan with the right of redemption of Lorenzo Pirola, the 2002 defender who joined Antonio Conte's first team since last year. The proposal of the president Daniele Sebastiani is to also include the counter-redemption, but there is to win the competition of Monza, ready to return in the event of the sale of Armando Anastasio.

According to Schira, Pirola is close to Monza on loan.

So, our CL list will consist of two kids from the Primavera if Pirola leaves. Maybe Stankovic on goal and then a defender perhaps. Meaning only 23 senior players in the list.

Loan to Monza is pretty much confirmed. Hopefully a good experience for both him and Esposito in Serie B.

The way Monza are building, they might get into the Champion's League before Milan manage it

loaned to Pescara

update: Sky was wrong on this one. It was reported that he will go to Pescara, but now i see he stayed at Monza and finally played the full game in a win over Chievo. It sucks that this was just his second game of the season. Hope he gets more playing time from now on.
