my bad, wikipedia wasnt up to date, i should have checked more thoroughly tbh

the worrying thing for me is that, last season, he got into the first team and maintained a place for ~14 games basically. This season he never broke in until thw play off finals, and I assume probably someone was injured or something for it?
at the start of the season he was always on the bench and just after he started getting playing time he went out with a knee injury, which kept him out for 2 months. I am sure he'd play more if he wasn't injured, but still dont know if he'd be worth 7M.

Berlusconi and uncle Fester are cheap fucks:
Pirola spent the past two seasons on loan with Monza, helping the Lombard team to promotion from Serie B during the season just gone, but they do not look keen to exercise the €8 million purchase option for him.

The newly-promoted side offered Inter €4.5 million for the defender, but the Nerazzurri rejected this offer, and he could end up at another club rather than joining Monza permanently.

Salernitana are looking to focus on young Italian players under new Sporting Director Morgan De Sanctis, whilst Verona would see him as a replacement for Nicolo Casale who is a target for Lazio and Roma
They want several players from us but all under the transfer market value!

4.5m seems pretty fair for a CB who never really became a regular starter at Monza

because Inter obviously unwanted them, not giving them a chance into first team (pirola, Pinamonti, Sensi etc). Those maneuver automatically devalued their market value.

According to Sky, Salernitana have already agreed terms with Pirola for a 4-year contract and their DS is going to have a meeting with Ausilio tonight to find an agreement between the clubs.

Di Marzio reports he's going to Salernitana with 900k loan and 4m€ option which becomes obligation with 20 games played or something.

But then he also mentions it's up to the player now as he has other offers too.

we have short players available of center back (Ranocchia Kolorov left), of course he could spot a future here. it's not like Inter want to spend a lot for CB in the future thanks to mr broke owner aka suning.

Now there was actually a mention of buyback. 12m€ from 2024 on (dunno if it's only in that year or not). I'd say this is pretty irrelevant. Apart from the case Pirola really shines at Monza for two years. If he's not worth 12m€ in 2024, we would have never kept him anyway.

You want your back-up players to either have experience in their role or just be average enough to do their job well when called upon. Pirola is neither of those.

He just needs to play, so this is the right move for everyone involved.

Gee, and he was a "hot" property a couple of seasons ago. The injuries and lack of playing time have really dropped his stock. Wish him the best of luck.

yeah that's same reason for Satriano case but i'm curious to know who will replace Ranocchia, Kolorov slot, and Skriniar departure?🙃🙃🙃 Van heusden gone, Pirola gone, who will replace them all?

Kolarov doesn't need to be replaced because Bastoni and DiMarco are fine as the LCBs. Skriniar isn't gone yet. In a weird twist of fate it's possible we see Bremer joining with de vrij staying or being sold to England.

Kolorov does not need to be replaced because he was absolutely a non-consideration from the day he first arrived to his departure at the end of last season.

Depends on the source... Initially it was intended like that (by CdS & FCInternews: one-year loan deal for which Salernitana will pay €1M and then if they stay in Serie A and he makes at least 20 appearances, they will have to buy the Italian for €4M), but the most recent report says:

Inter will not have a buyback clause in the deal to sell defender Lorenzo Pirola to Salernitana on loan with a purchase option.
This according to yesterday’s print edition of Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, who report that once the Campanians decide to buy the 20-year-old, the Nerazzurri will not have any option to buy him back automatically. The Campanians are set to sign Pirola on loan initially, and the deal will contain a purchase option which becomes an obligation to buy him for €5 million once the defender hits twenty appearances.
I guess the club just wanted to close the deal already.
