Foot Mercato report that Inter midfielder Lucien Agoumé, who spent last season on loan at Spezia, has been the subject of interest from Ligue 1 as well as on the other side of the Alps.

Agoumé himself is said to favour a return to France, with Bordeaux, Reims, Brest and Troyes all looking at the 19-year-old. Among the Serie A clubs interested in taking the midfielder on a loan deal are Sassuolo, Bologna, Cagliari and Udinese.

The former Sochaux man’s contract expires at the end of the season – as a result, the Nerazzurri are looking to tie him down to another contract and loan him out on a deal without a permanent option.

The 19-year-old midfielder has extended his contract with the Nerazzurri (until 2024 with an option for another year at 500,000 euros per season) and has now started talks with Brest, the club that in France has shown the greatest interest in his comparisons, as well as giving more guarantees on the use in the field.

Inter midfielder Lucien Agoume’s agent believes that the young Frenchman’s loan to Brest for the season does not reflect well on the footballing culture in Italy.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb.com, the player’s agent Oscar Damiani suggested that the reason the 19-year-old is leaving for Ligue 1 rather than remaining in Italy to go to a Serie A club is that he will find playing time in France where he would not in Serie A.

Agoume spent last season with newly-promoted Serie A side Spezia, where he impressed at times when he was on the pitch but was only given twelve Serie A appearances plus another in the Coppa Italia.

Given his age, regular game time is an important concern for the French midfielder, and his experience with Spezia was not as conducive to the development of his talents in the senior game as he, his entourage, or the Nerazzurri would have hoped.

For this reason, he is off to Ligue 1, where there is more of a reputation for nurturing young talent such as himself.

“Is Agoume going to Brest after the renewal with Inter? It is a defeat for everyone,” stated the agent, “He is a strong player, I would have liked to see him again in Italy.”

He continued, “The experience at Spezia was traumatic, he didn’t have space. In France young people are given the chance play, here we look at age and experience as much more important.”

Damiani reflected, “Better to go to France and play thirty games. We will find an even stronger Agoume, ready for Inter.”

But anyway, good he goes to a team where he presumably will mostly play as a starter (?). Italy is a fucking shitty destination for young kids who want to learn to play against men. I really hope he plays well there and comes back next summer to be the understudy of Brozovic. We can finally sell Gags or then Agoume just replaces Vidal's spot in the roster.

FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that the club has reached an agreement to extend the contract of Lucien Agoume.

Inter midfielder Lucien Agoume has explained how during his team in Italy he has matured a lot but he wants to prove himself in the French league, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during a press conference, with quotes reported by FcINternews, the young Frenchman who is now on loan at Stade Brest in Ligue 1 made it clear that he is back in France to show everyone how much he has matured since joining Inter.

“I left for Italy very young, at the age of 17. I never had the chance to show my qualities in France, I only spent six months at Sochaux before Inter.

“I thought it was a good opportunity to show what I can do before returning to Italy. Since I moved to Inter I have matured a lot, I don’t think I am the same player.

“I worked a lot tactically and physically I gained a few pounds. I think the Lucien who left then is not the same as today. I will demonstrate what I can do.”

Lucien Agoume spent the previous season on loan at Spezia in Serie A where he was impressive without catching too many eyes. He played 15 times for Spezia so was not essential to the side.

“I played about fifteen games, when I had the chance I tried to exploit it. I think I did some good games but the decisions are up to the manager.

“I have always worked to try to play as much as possible. It was a good experience, today I decided to do something different.”

He has now joined Stade Brest for a season where he is more likely to play a lot more games and be a key part of the team. As a Frenchman, he wants to express himself there as well as in Italy.

“There is a beautiful project, I talked to the coach and the director and I think it is the best choice. Am I a leader? I was captain of the Under 17 team, so I feel I can be but I arrive in a group where I think I am.

“I think I made a good decision by coming here. I am in Brest to show what I can do. The level of the French league has risen, the arrival of players like Lionel Messi and first Neymar elevated the competition and the following.”

Italian Agent Crescenzo Cecere: “Inter Owned Lucien Agoume Is A Starter At Brest & Is Doing Well”

Agoume had gone on loan to Spezia last season, where he impressed in his limited appearances but found playing time hard to come by.

The 19-year-old is now with Brest where the intention has been to find an environment where he can get regular minutes and develop in the senior game, something which Cecere indicated is going according to plan.
“He is having a good season at Brest, he always plays as a starter,” the agent commented.

Cecere also spoke about the situation of former Inter striker Mauro Icardi and indicated that he is likely to remain with Paris Saint-Germain despite links back to Serie A.
“I don’t think any club will bet on him in January,” he stated of the Argentine. “I think he will stay in Paris, He has a significant salary, I don’t know how many teams in Italy they can spend.”

Lastly, Cecere gave an update on the situation of young Pisa striker Lorenzo Lucca, who is reportedly a serious target of the Nerazzurri and other top clubs in Italy.
“Lucca is showing excellent qualities,” he explained. “He is an important player, I don’t think Pisa will let go of him him in January. He will be a top name in the summer.”
