I have a lot of respect for Luis Figo, but I would like to see another young winger because the age wouldn't help him as much as it did back in the days.

Mancini told Figo when he extended last summer that he'd be on the bench alot. That didnt bother him then, Im pretty sure that it wont bother him next season.

He's played 9 games this season in Serie A, and he got injured in the 11th round. Its not easy to take his spot in the starting lineup even when he's 35. If he wants to stay let him stay, he's a master and alot of the young players will learn alot from him, and he's still good enough to play against the best, just not 90 minutes.

Look at his average ratings, he's been doing good in every game in Serie A so far.

I have no problem with luis staying with us for another season...the player is consistent,he is already a legend and he is a huge influence on our players.

^ Well said, in fact I don't mind if we keep Luis and evaluate him on a year to year basis. At the moment I think he would be useful for another season, helping the young attacking players (whoever we end up getting) settle in and learn from him.

You guys are reading too much into this article. The Question now is not if he is staying or not but when is he coming back?!?!

He will be a tremendous boost if he can come a couple of games before the Liverpool clash and stay healthy.

It looks like he will be back soon and will definitely be fit before the Liverpool clash. Whether he can stay healthy until the Liverpool clash will remain to be seen.

He has already signed the contract last summer I think.. he is our global ambasador or something. All these rumours keep coming in December every year.

He will tempted greatly if the USA rumor is true. He might decide to play on for 1-2 year in the US for the huge $$

Personally, I do not see any problem with Figo's contract being renewed for a further season. He is a consumate professional and there is no substitute for his class and experience. If you are not convinced by the job he was doing up until his injury against Juventus, all you have to do is look at the amount of times Mancini decided to use him. Despite Mancini stating that Luis would not play as frequently this season, he started him in weeks 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 11.

In most of the aforementioned matches, Figo played for the full 90 minutes but there were occasions when he was substituted at around the 75 minute mark of the match.

In week 2, Figo was was given limited playing time and in weeks 4 and 9 he did not play.

It is my view, if Figo continues to provide assists, draws opponents and helps our cause, then I see no reason why he can not continue to play for us.

I think the question that has to be asked is who is going to take Figo's place when he leaves?

JIMINEZ, STANKOVIC, and ZANETTI

Can Jiminez be used on the right? Thus far, he has played in a more advanced role behind our strikers.

Stankovic can play on the right but a great deal depends on whether or not he is fit and all indications are that he is presently struggling.

Of course, the other alternative is Captain Zanetti. The problem with Zanetti playing on our right flank is that given our midfield injury crisis, we will have one less player in the centre of midfield. Also, Zanetti can not cross as competently as Figo.

The way I see it, until a viable alternative is found to Luis, who can contribute equal to or more than our number 7, then his contract should be renewed if he maintains his good form and strong desire to play football.

Luis didnt want to play on at the end of last season, didnt even want to go to KSA. It was the fans and Moratti who convinced him to stay on. I'm sure he knew that he can get another 1 or 2 titles this season. He's a great guy but theres no point forcing him every summer.

I don't believe it until I see something official, but on three out of four Sport Channels from here it says that Luis Figo signed a two year contract with some big American enterprise that owns three big clubs back in the U.S.

If he leaves, he'll leave in the summer, that's a good thing. :)

i think you've gone off on a tangent here...

figo's position at inter isnt as a right winger

mancini currently is in love with playing a trequartista behind the strikers

i dont remember the last game we played with wingers
