I think that he's still class but he surely knows himself that this is it.

As much as I like Figo it's time to go. We need a younger acm and we already have jimenez as a backup. No offense to Luis but he just isn't capable of playing another season at this level.

Agree. I would like to see Figo helping us in staff instead of player next season. We dont want to end up like our cross city rival

Maybe Figo should have chosen AC Milan. At least their fans have more respect for the older players.
Give me Figo on the bench instead of Solari, Jimenez or any other player anytime.

It's not a choice between Figo and Solari & Jimenez. Solari will 95% sure be let go and Jimenez is only here on loan, maybe we'll get him maybe we won't. It's a choice between Figo and Quaresma, Diego etc.

If we want a new creative midielder then we can't offer Figo a new contract. All the respect in the World for him but we need some new blood in midfield.

If we sign Diego, then we might not have enough cash for Jimenez. So I can understand what Moratti's thinking. But I agree with most guys that Figo is way too old.

As long as our squad is so injury prone(may be our physios are somewhat guilty for that) we need not one but two AMs. We already seen this season how both of our AMs were injured(even all 3 of them if we count Stankovic)

Very good point.

It's always risky with these 35-year-olds. Figo has a great career behind him and many football fans love him and have fond memories. If he finishes with a poor season, it'll ruin the image a bit. It's always dangerous to stretch it too far because you don't want to let go because of good old times.

True. A champion player should go out on a high instead of going to the ashes when he is not needed anymore. A Scudetto winning centenary is the right timing for Figo to go out.
And its also the time when we clean up our squad to reach further highs and get some consistency by getting rid of Solari, Cesar, Vieira, Dacourt and getting some good players in place.

We NEED that world class trequartista next season. Figo wouldn't be bad sub for the first choice but I don't see him agreeing to be one, even at his age of 36. I fear giving him a new contract will once again leave the coaching stuff resting on their laurels and not buy a WC trequartista. New AMC, Jimenez as sub, please.

Figo has been already at this season VERY slow and it isn't getting any better, quite contrary. So he definitely needs to go. Absolutely stupid to keep him anymore in the squad.

WC trequartista :D

anyway, if we can spend on a good AMC, get Jimenez and keep Figo we'd be well prepared for the sure-to-come injury crisis. But Figo as one of two is way too risky for my contentness.

I love Figo personally, and if we were to not get any new AMs next season, we would need him. he is the only midfielder, with the exception of Cambiasso sometimes, that creates offensive chances for the strikers.

Now, if we buy a younger player, then yeah, Figo should retire. I just don't want to see him play for another club next year if he plays again. Especially not MLS :p

Trust me when I say that cash won't be a problem at all, even if we are planning to have both Jimenez and Diego. I'm not saying we should sign Diego though, coz I am not sure of that.

I read in C4 that he refused to come on as a substitute, is it true?
