I'd have been absolutely gutted after the treble if he left, but in hindsight we should have sold him.

I've been thinking lately that since his prime there hasn't been a better RB in the world, not even Dani Alves imo. What an unbelievable player Maicon was, im so happy he's a legend for this club and we got to witness him play here during his best (and shortly after) years.

Dani Alves longevity I think has made him a better player than maicon. But maicon vs Alves in their prime, maicon absolutely smashes him. He was a fucking beast, what a player.

At peak I would pick maicon but that was like 2 or 3 seasons really. Alves was overall better (time averaged)

The president of Serie D side Sona has revealed former Inter defender Maicon could join the club until the end of the season.

The Brazilian plays for Villa Nova Atletico Clube in his native country but could make a shock return to Italy.

Claudio Ferrarese, the president of Serie D side Sona, Region of Veneto, admitted the former Roma and Manchester City defender is in talks to move to the club.

“I don’t dare say this but it’s all true,” Ferrarese told Padova Sport.

“We had this idea a month and a half ago but we need to take several steps, it’s not done yet.

“One of my assistants has contacts in Brazil, where Maicon plays for Villa Nova. He is fit and he’d like to return to Italy.

“He has businesses running in Milan and he could live and play in Verona until the end of the season.

“It would be a dream and a huge step in terms of visibility for us.”

i'm under the impression he's doing it mostly to help his 15-year-old son's career take off, by moving back to europe.

He is currently under an 2 game contract with Sammarinese outfit Tre Penne. These games are the home and away leg of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, and the first game has already happend: Tre Penne lost 4-0 to Georgian side Dinamo Batumi at home and Maicon was substituted 19 minutes into the second half.

Maicon: ‘Where Inter similar to Treble team’

Douglas Maicon explains where he sees ‘similarities’ between Simone Inzaghi’s Inter squad and the Treble winners, revealing he’s still in contact with Jose Mourinho.

The Brazilian former right-back is back in the city of Milan to attend a basketball match and spoke to Sky Sport Italia about his old club.

“They are having a very good season and nobody thought they would reach the Champions League Final last term,” said Maicon.
“The club signed a great player like Marcus Thuram, who has been far better than anyone expected him to be.”

Is there anything about the current squad under Inzaghi that has parallels with the side that won the Treble in 2010?

“What really reminds me of the 2010 team is the fact they have such a strong defence. Then there is Lautaro Martinez upfront, who is a great striker. I hope they can go all the way in the Champions League again.”

Mourinho was the coach of that Inter side that won the Scudetto, Champions League and Coppa Italia in the 2009-10 campaign. The Special One was sacked earlier this month by Roma and his old players came together to reassure him.

“We have a WhatsApp group with everyone from that side. We had a collective video call with Mourinho,” revealed Maicon.
“He did well at Roma regardless and won a European trophy for them. I am sad he left Roma, but he remains a great coach.”
Nice to hear from the legend
