A lot of people complain about Brozovic, especially when he has an off day or a mental moment. But who exactly would you replace him with who is either compatible with, or improves our system? A 20 year old Tonali? Locatelli? Fucking Bennacer? Ndombele? :yao:

Replacing Brozovic for a high-level defensive lynchpin like Kante or a Fabinho-type player is not a bad idea in theory. But for what you might gain in defensive security, you'd lose so much in the absence of Brozovic's playmaking abilities.

If you consider like-for-like players, there honestly aren't that many better players. Veratti? Jorginho? De Jong? Thiago? Have you seen how much these guys would cost?

Once you decide to upgrade on Brozovic, you have 3 choices:
1) pay obscene money for the De Jong's of the world
2) buy a more defensive player like Fabinho and change system
3) unearth some hidden young talent, patiently develop him and hope he reaches a higher level

Brozovic is certainly limited and flawed in some ways. And there are questions over his temperament and mentality. But I think a lot of people don't realise that there really isn't many players out there better than him in his role. This isn't Gagliardini we're talking about where anyone can easily name 40 better midfielders.

Brozovic is so under rated here, its not funny. This guy pretty much controls our midfield, works his ass off, and was our best player in the first half of the season when he finally showed consistent good performances. Yet people only remember some poor recent performances after lockdown and injury. Its ridiculous. Against Atalanta he showed again the kind of player he is, back in form.

I know at this Inter no one is unsellable. But Brozovic comes pretty close to that in my book. If there are two players in our midfield I wouldn't sell, it would be Brozovic and Barella.

In a sense, I forgot about Joao Mario :yao:

Did all right today, dealing with the thugs he was playing against. Good workman performance today for the most part.

Thank you for taking your time and explaining this to our brothers on FIF. Now next one up should be Skriniar.

I think it's a matter of solid scouting (where we lack) for example Fernandinho (considered a squad player by some) and Rodri (young with potential) before they made the move to bigger clubs. Surrounding them with worlc class players seems to have taken them a level further. Given our budgetary constraints it would be difficult to sign a ready-made player but as far as players we can afford who can excel in the DLP role in the next 1-2 seasons if we were to sell: Witsel, Partey, Merino, Roca, Zubeldia, Bruno.

There's certainly a dearth of reliable DLPs in the market and Brozo is certainly among the top 5-10 in the position over the years, so I'm all for keeping him. All he lacks really is consistency and temperament. Personally i think we need to surround with more class players to give him guidance like he had with Modric and Rakitic. Mediocrity (Vecino and Gagliardini) tends to promote further mediocrity.

Brozo unsurprisingly looking better now after returning to his original role.

We'd want to sign Tonali before even entertaining the notion.

Brozovic should only be sold for 50mil+ offer. He's worth more to the team to take anything less.

Brozo has won the appeal and got his driving license back: the difference between his blood alcohol and the legal limit was so small that it falls within the margin of error of the measurement.

Brozovic's cross to DDA was the one that sealed the deal today. Well done.

One of the sluggish games in attack, but pretty good in defence. I believe fatigue is slowly kicking in.

I know this sounds weird, but I wonder if we can really land Thiago and sell Brozović, but maybe Conte appreciates his pressing too much to part with him.

I think Conte does like his pressing. Brozovic is such an interesting player, he’s not a DM and he’s not a regista. He runs for days, is a decent tackler and he’s tidy in possession. Average long passer, not overly physical, not very creative. On paper he is basically a traditional CM yet he plays that role in front of our defense better then he’s ever looked as a CM.

I don’t see a world where we can have both him and Eriksen in the midfield for extended periods of time though. Either we stick with Brozo at the base and get a Gagliardini type with more quality (Tonali/Ndombele). Or we buy a Brozo replacement in someone like Ndidi or Kante which allows for Eriksen to potentially be a starter.

Exactly. It's hard to add a new starter at Inter's midfield without considering what to do with Brozović.

Yeah, it's a difficult thing to do indeed. Brozo's work rate and specially his stamina, is immense. So even if we got a better possession player and more technical guy who can pass better and faster, can we find such player who also has the same work rate and stamina?

Would definitely want one, not sure who that would be.
