We can't not expect Brozovic to not want

On a serious note, what Calhanoglu makes is completely deserved. Maybe even little more. 6m€ net is just too much. Calhanoglu makes 4.5m€ this year and 5m€ after that for 2 years. With 4 year contract and Brozovic being 29,5 years next summer, I'd say 5.5m€ net is absolutely maximums I'd give to him. And given it's 4 years, I'd include some bonuses to that 5.5m€ figure.

In comparison, Calhanoglu is 28 next February and his contract runs till 2024, his average net salary is 4.8m€ for 3 years. Brozovic is asking for a longer deal while being older. Of course I get it that Brozovic's pedigree is also better, specially with his history at Inter but I'd say we can't give Brozovic 6m€ net deal, we just can't. If we set that precedence, our salary budget will just keeps on climbing back where it was very soon.

The problem is we can't afford to lose him. We made the mistake to leave the negotiations over a renewal for the last possible moment because Conte didn't consider him vital for his project. We even came close to swapping him for Paredes in 2020. But things have changed. Inzaghi considers him very important for his project and losing him on a free would be a disaster both for sporting and financial reasons. We don't have the money to spend big on his replacement and i don't see many great options available. And the worst thing is he could end up to a Serie A rival. We have put ourselves in a very tough position. Brozovic knows that and that's why he doesn't lower his demands.

If you support giving Hakan 5m contract, it's totally deserved to give Brozovic 6m. The Croatian is the engine of our midfield for YEARS. He runs his ass off to do all the dirty works.

People usually adore fancy attacking stuffs like shooting & FKs, which Hakan is usually very good at. But for a midfielder, it is only half of the job. Hakan CANNOT defense, while Brozo can.

I prefer neither of them get 5m/ 6m. But if you gave one, you must give the others too, inevitable aftermath. That's why I always prefer selling-at-the-right-price to keep-player-at-all-cost.

We need to pay him, perhaps on a 3 yr contract and up his buy out clause, given Suning's predictions for looking for the bottom line.

Nah, we ain't giving him 6m€ net, I'm pretty sure of that. 3 years would be definitely a preferred contract length, then I guess we could be close to 6m€, with bonuses.

Haha. It makes sense, trust me! Don't ice cube me up brother haha.

I totally get what you are saying, I am sure they will sit down and negotiate and come to some sort of agreement especially the fact Inzaghi realises how important this dude is to our club, as stated he has been the engine for years, even years where people did not rate him or see his talent on the field due to results.

Hakan certainly doesn't deserve more money than Brozovic but they both shouldn't be greedy bazza's either, like i said, I am sure they will sit down and find an agreement.

In my opinion we need to keep this guy at all costs, year after year, if we like it or not, he is the most important guy in the midfled and maybe the team, when he play good we look amazing, when he shit we look kinda shit, with all the respect to barella, hakan, sensi or everyone else, he still our no1 guy in the mid, love it or hate it, that still a fact...

I wonder if Marotta is negotiating with Brozovic and Kessie at the same time, whoever agrees first... :yao:

Jokes apart, I hope Brozo stays. He has been a good soldier over the years. If 5m net is what he is happy to settle for, I think that is kinda reasonable.

Don't see anything wrong even if he leaves for free and we get Kessie. Thanks for all the laughs, but I don't think he'll age as gracefully as Modrić.

Signing Kessie and losing Brozo still leaves a hole in our midfield in front of the defense. Kessie would really be coming here to take Hakan’s starting spot

While this could be the case for Conte's Inter, i don't think Kessie would take the spot of Hakan in Inzaghi's Inter. He can only play in Barella's position in our midfield. One of the advanced midfielders needs to be a playmaker. I can't see a Barella - regista X - Kessie midfield trio working and playing either Barella or Kessie as a regista would be a waste of their strengths. The only role Kessie could have for us is being the first midfield option from the bench but he's too expensive for that role.

This is a joke, right?
Why is that such a hard concept for a person to have an opinion?

He's a good player to have and I like him more and more for what he does for defence, but I am wondering how much more can he give us. I'd give him a three year contract on higher wages at most, because he'll never be our Modrić. Too many times being a mixed bag of brilliance and utter incompetence. Doubt he'll get better.

I'm sure that if we sign Kessie, give Lautaro and Barella new contracts, that it's okay to be a 50:50 on should we keep Brozo or not. Nothing wrong with that. All depends on how much money we actually have, nowadays with our owners, nothing is certain.

How much wages is he on now? And would he want a big wage boost?
