Till last summer we didn't even know if we wanted to extend his contract. This should have been resolved last summer even before selling Hakimi. Either you sign an extension or you're put on the market. Instead we did nothing hoping Brozovic will sign an extension. This thing can't be repeated in the future. We can't afford losing our best players on a free ala Milan.

Hindsight is 20/20 but technically he should have been renewed in the summer before- after Conte’s first season - when he was rumoured to be on the market because Conte wanted DM like Kante.

Due to a lack of direction, the team is about to lose its starting midfielder and doesn’t even have a replacement on the bench.

Side note: I d really like to have any of them at Inter as a rotational player/ first midfielder of the bench....

I think he's measuring the possibilities. Whether it's about getting more money here or somewhere else, or the desire to try a new experience, or wanting to win more titles where the chance is more likely than Inter. We have to wait and see what will be his decision. Our progress in the league and CL might impact his decision to extend or leave.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is maybe the management thought that selling Hakimi was the least hurting move. And while there's no extension for Brozo they rather go with him for this one season than sell and try to desperately replace him after the coach took a walk too. Because if we sold Brozo this summer, who could have replaced him and maintained same stability?

I'm not saying it was DEFINITELY the correct decision to keep him with the risk but I'm looking the other side of the coin here. If he leaves, he leaves because he wanted to leave. I doubt it will be about the money.

This is where the EPL is going to cause serious issues. They can offer unreal amounts of money even the mid table teams. Players and agents know this and will be leveraging it like crazy.

If Brozo decided he wants a fat paycheck for his last big 5 years of his career, you just have to respect it, he earned it. Not being smart with the money for many transfer windows and signed contracts is a real ass biter for Inter.

I believe he has bigger offers say 8-9M elsewhere, but Inter is currently a priority, because his family likes Italy and hes on top of Inter's squad hierarchy. But he WILL move if we won't give in. The man deserves as good a salary as Lautaro. Strikers always makes more, but Lautaro is a kid next to Brozovic , who was here saving us in banter era.

He totally deserves it. 7.5m per year for 4 years is an acceptable offer. The club should give it to him. There are players in the squad who earn as much or more than him but don't offer half the impact that Brozovic have on the pitch.

Lautaro makes 6m€ + bonuses, not 7.5m€.

Lautaro was the first guy who got a big ticket without the Growth Decree applied. All our other big wages were tax reduced: Lukaku, Sanchez, Eriksen, Vidal.

Sure we have or had Perisic, Nainggolan and now got Dzeko who were at around 5m€ or less.

If 7.5m€ is a hard limit for Brozo, he will leave. We aren't going to give any player such salary, specially without tax reduction. He needs to make the big money elsewhere. Like I said earlier, I respect his decision if he decides to do so as Inter took a calculated risk with him with the extension policy (not selling despite last contract year starting). But the club cannot pay such wages, it's an endless spiral if you go to that route. If De Vrij's demand is 6m€, we probably sell him next summer (maybe to Conte). It's just the way it is.

I can also see Brozo caving in for less as at Inter, he's the first guy drawn to the starting lineup alongside Barella (and let's say Skriniar). He gets to play as much as he wants and can and the system is basically built around his strengths.

Brozo is fundamental, but not a phenomenon. I would probably go as high as 7m a season to renew. If he declines that for more money it is what it is and we should move on.

Isn't Vecino expiring too? Can't we just allocate Vecino's salary to Brozo and use some the Eriksen salary to sign the reinforcement (on cheaper wages than Eriksen obv)
