His passing seems significantly better from what I have seen. Also scores more goals.

thanked Strama for the faith he put in his development while he was a kid at Inter...that he had the luck he had a person to show the courage to give a young player a chance.
Thanks a lot mate

This season Marco Benassi has played 19 matches in Serie A and scored 8 goals. That is 1 less than Icardi, and equal to what Martinez, Politano and Perisic scored all together!!

Scored against Chievo as well +red card, Chiesa also scored 2.

What does he have to do to take him back?

Heeey, look, we could've had THIS on our bench for ZERO money, well, excluding Bastoni but still. Would it be much worse than the subs we currently have?!

Zaniolo
Benassi - Duncan - Emmers
DiMarco/Biraghi - Gravillon/Zinho/Bastoni - ?

I'm surely forgetting about some other decent squad players we produced in recent years. I'm not even including strikers as Lautaro is a good enough young option we already have.

Valero
Vecino/Gagliardini
Dalbert - Ranocchia

And yeah, the "they wouldn't be as good if they were sitting on our bench" argument is valid, but they would've had their fair share of minutes/chances to even displace some of our "starters"... such as fucking Vecino/Gagliardini/Dalbert. Having kids on the bench would've in turn let us splash serious cash on 2-3 class players (50M each for example) each season for YEARS now. We could've assembled a pretty formidable team in just 2-3 years this way and it's high time we start doing just that.

You need to see the individual deal on each player and consider whether it was fair at the time to provide an analysis.

That being said, I don't recall how most of them were sold so if anyone who has time on his hand wants to refresh our memories, please go ahead.

Biraghi was a part of our deal with Pescara over Caprari. Caprari helped us getting Skriniar so in a way we could say it was worth it. 50% of Benassi was part of our deal with Torino over D'Ambrosio. Then we lost the auction with Torino. I still regret losing Benassi. He's not a world beater but i don't think he would be worse than Vecino or Gagliardini. I have no memory of the backstory of Duncan sale. I remember him being on loan at Livorno along with Bardi but i don't recall how he ended up at Sassuolo.

All those players need playing time to develop into what they are now. They wouldn’t be the same players if they sat on Inters bench that last 4 years.

with that being said I would love Benassi back for Gags or Vecino

None of those youngsters were automatic starters at their new teams either, no? They were slowly introduced. My point is that it's not like we've traded them for proper first team players, let alone decent squad players. We might have just as well at least made the effort to do the same and give them a shot to impress. Anyway, it's a lot of wishful thinking on my part and things are far more complicated but still I think it's an interesting discussion to have in light of the fact that after tens of millions invested this team still isn't functioning properly.

If you are good enough age shouldn't matter. If you have the talent to make it to the first team you should get playing time and train with the first squad. Now I know Italy has a different mentality when it comes to youngsters but now that Italian clubs can't buy anyone they want with the FFP they should care more about developing young players who are already are familiar with the club and the system etc instead of having 4 or 5 back up players for one position because they are afraid to play youngsters and imagine the 4 central backs are injured...

And offcourse young players will make mistakes and be inconsistent but so are the ''experienced'' players as we can see the last years at Inter. In the long run you will have much more to the young players and players like Vecino, Joao Mario etc who don't give a f*ck about Inter or the fans but only about their salary.

It works both way: When you develope players into better players and sell them for good money it attracts other players to choose for Inter because they know they will get a chance and not be loaned out untill they are 24/25 and then to be sold. I can imagine young Italians won't choose clubs like Inter, Milan, Juventus etc because they know they will never get any chance in the first team. Now we just selling young players to cover the FFP which isn't a bad thing but it's just plain stupid to sell your own players and buy them back after some years for millions more. Like they are going to do with Gravillon if you believe the rumours.

Mediocre players can easily be subbed for young talented players, what is the point of having a youth Academy if you are not using it correct.

I remember wanting Benassi instead of Vecino in the summer. Also think I might have made a post about how Benassi would look great at Fiorentina :p

I want Benassi back for three years :D I remember when I came back to this forum back in the summer, i had brief disucssion with n4l who claimed he is mediocre at everything. Although his opinion does hold water, i'd say Benassi is a player we need. Better than most of our midfielders, and perfect rotational option if we get better ones - is homegrown, can cover EVERY position in the midfield, can score and can assist.

I think it's too late now. He is after Chiesa and Simeone the most valued player in Fiorentina. They'd ask 40m at least knowing Della Valle cunts..

My foresight was even greater, I never wanted him to leave, not the way we sold him anyway.

(just playing along with the game of boasting)

I remember back in 2003 when Benassi was 9 years old, I knew that he could be great and I remember sending a hand written letter to Inter to sign him.

Report: Benassi close to Genoa

Fiorentina midfielder Marco Benassi is reportedly close to joining Serie A rivals Genoa.

According to Michele Criscitello for Sportitalia and Tuttomercatoweb, Benassi is not suited to Vincenzo Montella’s style of play.

That would have let in Genoa, who are in the market for midfield reinforcements, as seen by their pursuits of Gerson and Ismael Bennacer.

The 24-year-old joined Fiorentins from Torino in the summer of 2017 for €12m and has gone on to play 73 times, scoring 14 goals and providing eight assists.

I'm surprised we're not interested in him for at least his club-trained value, but apparently we don't care about having reduced squads in Europe

Montella is a national treasure.
How good is Benassi nowadays actually? Seems like an above-average player but I doubt he would get much minutes. We need 4 homegrown players for CL squad registration, Berni being one of them already.
