Liverpool are reported to be in contact with Thuram's representatives to reiterate their interest in a possible transfer, which would offer him the chance to reunite with close friend Federico Chiesa. Thuram has a £70m release clause in his contract which, while a high price, would at least lead to simple negotiations.

His body is extremely resilient and tough, it has to be said. The amount of atrocious challenges he received last year and especially this year, where you just cringe watching it hoping something doesn't snap or break... And several seconds later he is up and running...

Testament to his work ethic/fitness, and also probably genetics.
