I am seriously very worried about his new position tbh. Hamsik this, Hamsik that. I just fear that he'll be suffocated by our inept midfield. I haven't watched much of our pre-season tbh, so I can't really say much. Then again, he's been injured for most of it anyway so there's no way to know if it'll work.

Kova isn't even 100% but he did really well in my opinion. His role is going to change and it may take a while until Mazzarri finds his ideal position for the formation based on the Genoa game.

Good to see him taking shots and attacking more direct. It seems that Mazzarri is taking effect. Lets see how it goes.

good to see the boy back in action. :proud:

but kova needs to work on his shooting. his shots lack viciousness and are way too modest and soft.

I expected Genoa to sit back and wait for us. The players just needed a bit of belief. Kovacic couldn't last the whole match and that's why I brought him on later, the same goes for Icardi. It went the way we thought it would: we only gave away a couple of chances. The team are starting to find their balance.

Kovacic himself said that Hamsik is a different kind of player. Hamsik is very good because of his off the ball movement. Kovacic is better on the ball and can create play. He is closer to Modric and Iniesta in terms of style.

A midfield of Guarin-Taider-Kovacic would be interesting.

I hope Mazzarri doesn't try a Guarin-Kovacic-Alvarez midfield because that would be poor defensively and Kovacic won't have his space there.

Definitely. Hamsik is goalscoring midfield, Kova is creative one, with great technique. Totally different.

Kovacic is completely right and spot on with his analysis on Hamsik and him, he sure did his study and not just pulled it out of his arse during the interview.

Nothing much to add really, one can only hope Kovacic would also be able to score a few in the future.

Good to see him on field instead of the bench. He looked ok, had a key pass but I think he looked a little lost. Rusty maybe.
