Well if we don't sign Dembele, or imo Kovacic should be the obvious first choice. He knows Inter, loves Inter, has his Croatian mates here and will form a formidable pair with Brozovic in midfield for atleast 3/4 years easily.
That's all fine and dandy, knowing and loving Inter and being Croatian, but that's not how football works :D We simply don't need his particular skill set as of right now, that potential partnership would be a walking disaster if we would be playing 4-2-3-1, in 4-3-3 it could potentially work with some Medel-like madman running and tackling the whole time so those two can chill on the sides.

He can fill gagliardini role as box to box alongside Brozo as DLP and nainggolan as treq and we are set. Still the price will be the biggest obstacle unless madrid give us loan with option to buy, and seems he isnt Spalletti style not enough muscle.

Kova really wants to leave. We should let not Juve caught us blindside again like they did with Cancelo. He has unfinished business at Inter :proud:

Are we still jizzing over Kova kid? I have nothing against him, but honestly he hasn't developed much since the good ol' days.

I also don't see how could we utilise him in our midfield right now, we have Brozo for the DLP position and we need some muscle to feed him the ball, hence why we're after Dembele and Carvalho. Plus he'd probably cost like 30-40M and we have other holes to fill with that money right now, so Kova would simply be a nostalgic luxury we totally don't need at the moment.

Коvacic is not as bad as trying to make it but i don't think that he'll have a secured starting spot here.

Meh. If we can take him at a huge discount then he might alright. I prefer other players with his high costs (Rafinha or snatch Cancelo before he fucks off to the scums).

I think as both the Cancelo & Rafinha boats have sailed, Kovacic is easily a player i would like to see back. A trio of him Brozovic & Radja seems like a solid midfield to me.

Kovacic.... hmmm.... not Inter material . We sold him, and he was forever in madrid bench, good riddance.

Juve paid more for him...... how is that blind sided. We offered less and couldn't pay for him right away like they wanted.

Plus he is trash for 40 million

he never took that next big step in his career in Madrid... if anything he went backwards imo.

i will be fool to say that Kova doesnt have a world class potential, but all i have ever seen is just that potential, thosee "damn, almost!!" kind of moves, those "wow, if he could just..." kind of passes, and the same 13 year old asian girl jogging like he is a manga character.

Who would he replace if he came back? not Radja, thats for sure, and no fucking way Brozo.

I'd much rather Juve sign Kovacic than Cancelo...

He's still young enough to grow, but going to Real hurt his progression badly. I'd take him back but he seems EPL-bound.

Madrid doesn't want to sell him and his release clause is €300M, so we'll need at least €60M and there a couple of big teams after him.

He's going to be a top 5 midfielder in the next couple of years so I'll love us to get him but I don't think it's possible.

I hope we don't get him back at all, especially at this price. I've had a boner for matic for a while now, if manure get SMS we can get a bargain deal for him

Imagine N9-Matic mid! *Diefapping*

Mateo Kovacic, linked with Juventus and Inter, has told current club Real Madrid he wants to leave.

The Croatian joined the Spanish club from the Nerazzurri in 2015 but has found his first team opportunities severely limited at the Bernabeu.

And speaking to Marca, the 24-year-old revealed his belief that he needs to leave Los Blancos in order to play regularly.

“I’d like to play more for Madridbecause I love football and being on the pitch.

“I also know that it’s difficult to play as a starter at Madrid, especially because I was very young when I came here.

“I understand the situation, and that’s why I think it’s best if I go to another club, where I have the opportunity to play regularly as a starter.

“It’s an opportunity I think I can get and one I want right now. Every player is important at Real Madrid.

“However, the problem is that for a young player, it’s difficult to have continuity, and without that continuity I’ll never be able to show my full potential.

“When I don’t have clarity, I’m not happy. I’ve really enjoyed these three years at Madrid, with incredible teammates, winning trophies...

“However, I haven’t been entirely happy because my contribution to all that wasn’t to the maximum and it’s something I want to change.

“I don’t know the new Coach and I’ve never spoken to him, but I know we need to talk about my future.”

Kovacic is part of Croatia’s squad at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, but has been restricted to two substitute appearances at the tournament thus far.

“I’ve been at Madrid for three years, I haven’t played too much and it’s something that has affected my status in the national team.

“It’s something that doesn’t make me happy. That’s why it’s best if I change teams. Real Madridare an extraordinary team full of great players and maybe now I’m too young to contribute fully here. I don’t know…”

Even if I like Kova, I would rather sign Rafinha for that kind of money. Would be interesting to see how he would play in a capable team, now after these experiences. But it`s not the time [yet].
