Ball retention, short-passing, defending, and ability to dribble the ball out of tight areas are his obvious strengths. Still cant finish but whatever. He's an upgrade because under pressure our MF just hoofs the ball wherever the fuck cuz the next option is just standing still.

An important statistic that we should keep in mind is that in forty matches, Kovacic has only managed two assists and no goals.

That pretty much sums it for me. There is a reason why Inter sacrificed and allowed him to leave and we should not take steps to bring him back.

Fifty million or thereabouts is too much for a player whose role is ill defined and fails to consistently impact the games in which plays.

The fact that Chelsea are not going to make the move permanent and Real Madrid are not renewing his contract says alot about his career and his status as a world class midfield player.

his price has been dropping. even Transfermarkt values him around 30 million. with his current form, the possibility of Zidane will exclude him next season, and transfer ban for Chelsea, you can expect to sign him at 20-25 million. He loves Inter and Aussilio stated few months ago that he would like another chance to have Kova again.

He makes 7.6 million euro a season.....

Stop discussing him returning especially as a bench option

Spalletti only likes shit players. Kovacic fits the mould in that regard.

he is not a shit player at all. he is not shit compared to Gags, Vecino, Mario, and Valero. technically he's above them. he is not shit compared to players that rumoured to us like Barella. he is clearly better than Tonali and Sensi while both players might be in the same price range as Kovacic. he is only shit when you campare him to Pirlo or Iniesta. some people just get too reactionary around here.

Mazzari makes the most out of Kovacic as left CM. and we can at least hope to see Spalletti doing the same.

No matter how you look at it, two assists in forty matches is shit. And that's why his price is dropping and no one wants him.

Do you know what's funny? Kovacic is 24 years old and we are still waiting on his break out season.

His stats make interesting reading and the last thing Inter need is another footballer with over inflated wages and a long term contract that struggles to make an impact. We already have enough of those types of players.

In season 2017-2018, he played 36 matches with 3 assists.
In season 2016-2017, he played 39 matches with 2 goals and 3 assists.
And in 2015-2016, he played 34 matches with 1 goal and 2 assists.

The funny thing is that his best season was at Inter in 2014-2015 when he played 44 games and scored 8 goals and managed 5 assists.

Personally, I think that four seasons between drinks is four years too long.

Unfortunately, statistics do not lie and in the case of Kovacic, he is not the creative impact player that Inter needs to lead our midfield.

i'll make some brief points because my english is not as good as most people around here :

1. i never mention Kovacic to be a leader. his current form wont point to that direction. and he's not going to be a big purchase.
2. some players are late bloomer.
3. Kovacic's role is not supposed to mainly deliver goals and assists. he acts like a glue in passing flow although we would still expect more from him due to his technical ability.

I remember him banging a screamer against Lazio then I also remember him losing balls while dribbling then seeing yellow for trying to recover the lost ball.

Jorginho has 2 goals this season (penalties) and ZERO ASSISTS. That doesn't mean he isn't creative and is shit. Kovacic from our time, was a very creative player, impact player with dribbling ability that none of our midfielders currently have. He will still be an upgrade over Vecino, Gags, Borja Valero. We should definitely get him along with other players such as Barella ofcourse. Mind you, Kovacic is still only 24.

I was gutted when he left, now though he hasn't done shit since he left. He has under-performed and not delivered. Save the wage space for a superstar, not a has been.

Kova hasn't got consistent game time until recently and that's with an in-crisis Chelsea.

And the list of players who didn't peak til their late 20s is endless. Why do people keep bringing that up. Brozo hit stride at 25. With Kova the talent is there, clearly, he just needs trust and consistent game time.

Another key point is no surprises with Kova, he's been here before, we know what to expect. Not injury prone, 100% professional, won't get homesick, won't demand a trade midseason, and impact will be instant. You guys fail to register how many highly rated signings have come to Inter and suddenly flop (jmario, kondogbia, gagliardini). Now you want to sign a serie b player or players from mid-table teams :chan: ask yourselves can we afford the risk?

I was against his signing before, but now that we may get a huge discount, I'm all for it. We will see if he and Brozovic can work well together, but even if it's not, he's still a quality option to have in our technically deprived midfield. He shouldn't be our only signing for midfield, though.

A loan deal should be possible. We're good at those.

For sure don't want serie B players, if we got Kova on the cheap and his wage wasn't unrealistic, I'd give him a shot, you make a good point about familiarity with the club, however he has suffered from injuries, but injuries don't concern me with him.

Agree with the others but I wouldn't say defending is one of his strengths at all. He puts in a nice slide tackle here and there but he doesn't run much. I've watched one Chelsea match this season but I did see a good amount of him when he was in Madrid. He doesn't track back enough and he doesn't cover a defensive zone very effectively IMO.

Kovacic is one of my biggest regrets of the post-treble dark years which we may or may not have come out of. I was furious when Mancini sold him, essentially traded him for that retard Kondogbia (typical dipshit Mancini move, all brawn, no brains). But I feel like he's essentially a marginally better player than when he left here. I feel like the rate of his growth has completely plateaued by spending 3 years on the bench. Doesn't matter if he's training with Modric and Kroos everyday, he would've improved twice as much if he'd played 30+ games of 90 minutes per year for those 3 seasons. I wanted him to do that here but whatever.

That said, I am completely unconvinced about bringing him back. I feel he'd be best suited to playing in Brozovic's role, but I truly believe Brozovic is a better player and far more useful to us right now anyway. What I want is a new starting midfielder to play alongside Brozovic.

It's really difficult to predict how we'll spend at the end of the season. I'm not one of those guys who's so skeptical about Suning and thinks they'll cheap out, even though we'll (hopefully) be in the CL places, and finally free from that motherfucking settlement agreement. Nor am I so optimistic to think that we'll be able to compete with the likes of PSG and Man City for top talents like De Ligt or established stars like KDB.

I think realistically, we can expect either: a Rakitic-like move, which is to say, a (slightly) aging player from a big team, like we did tried with Vidal/Modric last year. Or, another Perisic-like signing - an experienced player of around ~€25m who has been playing consistently well at a medium-sized club, who we expect to take the next step up and become a core player at our club, like Perisic did in his first 3 years. Like Candreva did for 1 year before turning to unusable shit.

Ironically, Kovacic fits that second criteria pretty well. He's the right age, probably not too expensive, and has 'enough' experience. But his last few seasons have been too disappointing to me. In my eyes, he's a massive gamble and if we brought him back there's a big chance he could just be weak and ineffective and eventually fail to make the cut.

Yeah, in no way can he come here to be a first team player.
