I have barely seen this dude play but already I can totally concur...my 92 year half blind nan would give us something better out there.

Not gonna lie. I was hoping for a 94th minute screamer from him when he came on. Little did I expect a more probable scenario which is him effing up and costing us a goal...

I must say, I am a bit surprised to see Inzaghi prefer Vecino over Gagsy. Maybe those rumours of Lazio wanting Gagsy were more Tare than Inzaghi.

One shouldn't put any weight on those type of rumors. 99% of them are the result of reporters' imagination process.

I thought he played better than Barella today.

He looked completely gassed after 65-70 minutes and left way too much space on the left during a few dangerous Bologna counters, but he pressured well, didn’t lose the ball much and most crucially, always offered an extra body in the box (and more space on the right for Dumfries).

Not every situation demands a Vecino, but he does offer something unique. I think Inzaghi’s kamikaze football will suite him much better than Conte’s intricate system.

Agree he offers something different than Gags. He's the kind of impact sub you want like D'ambrosio. Perfect for a game like Bologna or Venezia who are either too complacent or too toothless. But otherwise we shouldn't experiment anything beyond that.

Say what you want about Vecino but that goal he scored would not been scored by Gagliardini, if you don't believe me you can go back to the first season with Conte and take a look.

Honestly, Vidal is too old and Hakan is a bit soft. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more Vecino. He does bring some energy and goals. Imo Hakan is still in the lead for that 3rd spot in midfield because of the type of player he is. However, no one has really impressed me enough to be undisputed next to Brozo and Barella.

For me he was utter crap in first half an hour. He was late for passes, tackling, tracking and for everything actually. After 2-0, he has improved but still he is not good enough player for Inter. I hope we do not offer him a contract extension. Vecino and Gagsi shall be gone at the end of current campaign.

I thought he played better than Barella today.
Except he didn't really imo, Barella had to play on the other side because of him, still managed to get on the score sheet, did recover a lot of balls especially when Brozovic was subbed off, made great long passes.
Vecino had another ghost apparitions that people would'nt even have picked up if it wasn't for a goal in a quasi open net.

If you look at the number apart from Correa, Handanovic and De Vrij for obvious reasons and Lautaro who played less time and is an attacker he was the starter with less touches in the squad. Reminder, he plays as a CM in this Inter team that absolutely destroyed Bologna's midfield. In fact if you take into account both teams, on Bologna's sidenonly Svanberg, Hickey (who played 35 less minutes) and their goalkeeper touched less balls than Vecino. He is a null factor in a team, it's amazing that people are still going with the "he brings something different" while he actually goes through the game withiut touching the ball. Not because he is on defensive duty or because he has a specific role that requires him not touch the ball but contribute differently, he just has no influence (most if the time) or bad influence (like against Real).

And it's not that he is lazy or anything, he just does not know where to be on the pitch in relation to where the ball is, where is teammates in the midfield are and where the team needs him to be.

Imo, there is no wonder his best games at Inter were the games where all tactics are off or he has been relieved from any specific duty like the derby in 2018/2019 where he played Trequartista behind Lautaro for instance . And those are very rare occurences, most of the time he is just basically useless.

Let's be honest he didn't play bad at all, he also didn't play great. To be fair to him for the amount of first team football he get's with us the performance he put in was more positive than negative. His off the ball positioning and runs need improving but you can't learn that without being on the field with these guys week in week out, he scored a goal and showed great composure whilst doing it, he for sure has quality and can improve with more game time.

I have zero problems seeing Vecino playing ahead of Hakan in Sensi's absence in lesser games. However if Sensi/Hakan were fit I'd expect Vecino to get very little game time. I am glad Vidal had to miss this one, it would have been a different dynamic with him.
