Everytime I see him on the pitch I can't understand how some rather have Gagliardini :palm: I now rather have Vecino than Hakan+Gagli

He looked very comfortable moving on the pitch. It is the first time I see him moving well with the team. It was not only about his run into the box when we attack, but he pressed well yesterday to halt Atalanta's transition. What a difference to Hakan who was outplayed and bypassed everytime Atalanta moved through him. Not really a stellar performance, but surely a massive upgrade to Hakan.

Easily worst player on the pitch tonight. He offered absolutely nothing and especially in the second half i even forgot the guy was on the pitch.

Vecino is an impact sub. Not a starter FFS. I'll cut Simone some slack this time since Hakan is in shit form and Vidal just returned from injury. But no next time.

Oh, and also becos Sensi is permanently injured...

With the options we had tonight I feel he was the best pick, I feel he didn't have that bad off a game, he was in good positions a lot of the time which impressed me off the ball, 2 corners 1 near post with a better delivery he would have had a great chance and he was on the edge of the 18 a few times and almost every time the ball went back to the defence.

Problem is we couldn’t afford luxury player like him any more. He immediately runs into the box when we have the ball, we lose one option to build up, one person to cover wingback. He is not quick to run back long way, Barella has to move left if we play him and occasionally he moves to Brozovic’s position in middle causing Brovic switching for him or we have gap in the right. It’s like playing 3-4-3. Shakhtar presses, we either miss pass or lose ball.

There is a reason Conte played Gag more than him, we couldn’t give up space like this anymore. Agree that he might be useful when we are desperately need a goal and keep possession.

TBH he did improve in the closing down opponent area a bit. Before he was like an extra man joining attacks that only stands in the midfield for the time being, like no essential midfield functionalities, which kinda sums up our midfield, either they are just increasing the numbers in defense or attack, but not exactly carrying out the midfield roles; to be more specific the differences in defense for midfield and the D-line is midfielders should be more concentrating on breaking the attacks and setup of the opponent, and the D-line is more on the final stopping and nullifying the goal threat; our midfield quite failed to do their part imo, and that's why we get to see our platinum CBs in action all the time, it is thrill to watch, but not a good sign. Barella and Broz are great, but they just got out number most of the time, as the third one they pair with normally fails, hence we end up attacking and defending the way we do. Vidal, Barella and Broz would be our best line up in terms of playing the middle third, Hakan actually attempts to play as a midfielder more than Vecino, but he cannot carry any duties at all, while freaking Vecino plays the final and defensive thirds (when he tracks back) roles, and just stands in the middle third.

I forgot he was playing for large swathes of the match.

Absolutely typical Vecino performance, not much else to say.

He gave an interview in Uruguay saying he's experienced a situation he hadn't expected based on the talks with the coach and the club (apparently in the summer), obviously referring to the lack of playing time.

I just today suggested in the whatsapp group that maybe Vecino would go out in the January window because of the lack of playing time. That might give us the room to add a more fitting midfielder to the squad. Vecino is good for certain situations but we haven't had those situations too much and I don't know if we will have to justify having him in the squad rather than someone who can be sub playing style wise to our starters.

Best news of the international break.

"“I am in a situation at Inter that I did not expect to be in when I spoke to the club and coach at the start of the season,” said Vecino in his press conference.

Hes fucking even more stupid than I thought. :D

Why have you thought Vecino is stupid?

I think everyone should expect that they are told the truth when the coach and the club talks to you.

But what was really said is interesting. We've played 16 games so far. 16 x 20mins is 320 minutes. Vecino has played close to 300 minutes. So on average he has played close to 20 minutes every match. If there was a talk he'd start some games, more than 1 so far in the season (he has started only one match), that's interesting for sure given our depth in the midfield.
